Description
Dipropylene Glycol (DPG) is a clear, colorless liquid with low odor that belongs to the group of polyhydric alcohols (glycols). It is obtained as a by‑product in the production of propylene oxide, then fractionally purified and stabilized for use in cosmetics and perfumery. Thanks to its excellent solubility, stability and very good skin compatibility, it is used as a solvent, humectant and fragrance stabilizer . Its advantage is low volatility, which prolongs the longevity of fragrances in products and at the same time helps their even dispersion. In perfume blends it can be used up to 90 % as a fragrance carrier. It is compatible with water and alcohols , non‑toxic and stable over a wide pH range (4–10).
