- Description
- Disodium Lauryl Sulfosuccinate is a milder anionic surfactant from the sulfosuccinate group. It is manufactured in multiple steps: the fatty alcohol (lauryl) is first chemically attached to the succinate backbone (esterification), followed by sulfonation and finally neutralization to the disodium salt. Compared to classic alkyl sulfates, it has a larger molecule, which in practice results in a gentler cleansing profile – it still produces a pleasant foam and removes common soils well in rinse-off products. Key benefits Milder cleansing – suitable for formulations where you want a gentler surfactant base. Good foaming – supports rich, more creamy foam. Pleasant tolerability – often chosen for products for more sensitive skin (rinse-off). Balanced cleansing profile – less of a “degreasing” feel than with stronger sulfate surfactants. Suitable for surfactant blends – works well in combination with amphoteric and nonionic surfactants. Suitable for products such as Shampoos and mild cleansing bases for hair Shower gels and body wash gels Cleansing gels for the face (rinse-off formulations) Liquid soaps and hand wash products Baby and sensitive cleansing products (depending on the overall formulation) Use in formulation Water-soluble – intended primarily for the aqueous phase and surfactant systems. Compatible with amphoteric surfactants (e.g. betaines) as well as nonionic surfactants (e.g. glucosides) – suitable for fine-tuning mildness, foam and viscosity. Mixable with common humectants and thickening systems for cleansing products (selection depends on target clarity and pH).full description on the product page →
