Disodium Lauryl Sulfosuccinate (DLSS)

Disodium Lauryl Sulfosuccinate is a milder anionic surfactant from the sulfosuccinate group. It is manufactured in multiple steps: the fatty alcohol (lauryl) is first chemically attached to the succinate backbone (esterification), followed by sulfonation and finally neutralization to the disodium salt. Compared to classic alkyl sulfates, it has a larger molecule, which in practice results in a gentler cleansing profile – it still produces a pleasant foam and removes common soils well in rinse-off products. Mixable with common humectants and thickening systems for cleansing products (selection depends on target clarity and pH).
