Product description
A plastic bottle for toilet cleaner with a volume of 750 ml is designed for liquid and gel household cleaning products. It is suitable for anyone who makes their own household cleaners and needs a container for toilet gel, limescale remover, or sanitary ceramic cleaner.
Black opaque plastic conceals the contents and protects them from light. This is particularly useful with formulations containing essential oils, fragrance compositions, or dyes that fade or change scent over time when exposed to light. The plastic is also lightweight and will not shatter on a tiled floor the way glass would.
What the bottle is suitable for
- Toilet gels and liquid toilet cleaners – thickened products based on citric acid or lactic acid with surfactants, designed to cling to the bowl wall for a moment.
- Limescale removers – acidic solutions for sanitary ceramics, taps, and tiles.
- Bathroom and floor cleaners – concentrates as well as ready-to-use solutions; the 750 ml volume is practical for products that are used up quickly.
- Refilling – the bottle also works as a permanent container into which a product made in a larger batch is decanted.
The bottle material is also suitable for contact with cosmetic products; the declaration is provided in the product parameters.
Nominal and total volume
The nominal volume is the volume the bottle is intended for during normal filling. The total volume to the brim is the physical capacity up to the neck and is slightly larger. This difference serves as a reserve for the cap and for expansion of the contents with temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. Overfilling may cause the product to leak when the cap is fitted.
Cap and neck
Caps with the same thread size (its diameter is listed in the product parameters) and ready-made bottle-and-cap combinations are available from Handymade. With a custom combination, we recommend verifying tightness, dispensing, and the behaviour of the container with your specific formulation. With toilet cleaners this is important, because the bottle is inverted neck down during use.
What to know about filling and use
- Preparation before first filling – rinse the bottle with warm water and allow it to dry thoroughly. If filling it with a cosmetic product, also disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow it to evaporate.
- Content temperature – hot contents can deform the plastic. Products prepared hot should be filled only after cooling.
- Thickened gels – thick formulations are easier to fill using a funnel, shortly after thickening while they are still more fluid. Air bubbles will rise to the surface after a few hours of standing.
- Labelling – a label adheres best to a dry and degreased surface. Bottle dimensions needed for label design are listed in the parameters.
- Recycling – an empty and rinsed bottle is recycled as plastic.
For formulations with a higher proportion of acids, essential oils, or solvents, we recommend a compatibility test. Fill one bottle, leave it to stand for several weeks, and check whether the shape of the container, the seal of the cap, or the appearance of the contents changes.
The black plastic makes it impossible to see what is in the bottle, so always label it with the product name and composition, and store it out of reach of children. Before filling it with a different type of product, rinse it thoroughly, as residues of different cleaners may react with each other.
