This plastic container is designed as an independent packaging that is compatible with various types of closures and dosing methods according to the selected parameters for the specific product. Depending on the chosen neck, the jerrycan can be used with screw caps, flip-top caps or an adapter for more convenient decanting of the contents into smaller bottles.
The combinations of packaging and closures created directly on Handymade are tested and functional. However, for all combinations we recommend always carrying out your own compatibility test – in particular regarding sealing, dosing and the behaviour of the packaging in contact with the specific formulation (viscosity, pH, alcohol content or proportion of oil-based components).

For plastic packaging made of PET or other sensitive plastics, it is important to ensure proper handling – do not expose them to high temperatures in order to avoid undesirable deformation, loss of shape stability or deterioration of the closure functionality. The packaging is not suitable for dishwashing in a dishwasher or for boiling; gentle manual cleaning is recommended according to the recommendations below.

Yes, the packaging can be used repeatedly if hygiene principles are followed. Before each new filling, the jerrycan must be thoroughly cleaned and then disinfected with a suitable alcohol-based preparation, for example IPA 99 % isopropyl alcohol or ethanol 96 % denatured plant-based. After applying the disinfectant, allow the interior of the packaging to dry completely and only then refill with a new product to maintain the stability and quality of the contents.
After emptying, rinse out the product residues thoroughly; depending on the nature of the contents, you may use a mild detergent suitable for the specific type of contamination. We then recommend rinsing the inner surface with clean water and, after drying, applying a disinfectant solution, for example isopropyl alcohol or plant-based ethanol. Do not soak the packaging in boiling water, do not boil it and do not wash it in a dishwasher, to avoid damage or deformation of the plastic.
The plastic material of the jerrycan is not intended for direct filling with hot liquids or for long-term exposure to high temperatures. If the recommended temperature resistance is exceeded, the walls may deform, the stability of the packaging may be impaired or the sealing of the closure may deteriorate. We recommend filling only cooled or room-temperature products and storing the jerrycan away from heat sources or direct intense sunlight.
If you decide not to reuse the packaging, we recommend recycling it in accordance with the material designation stated in the product parameters. First remove any remaining contents and any labels from the jerrycan so that the packaging is clean. Then sort it into the appropriate container according to the type of plastic indicated in the parameter table for the product on Handymade. By following these rules, you will support efficient material recycling and a reduction in the amount of waste.
