Product description

The black-gold dropper with a length of 50 mm is a dropper-dispensing closure designed for bottles and vials with the same neck type. It is suitable wherever the contents are dispensed in small quantities: for facial serums, oil blends, concentrates of active ingredients, or beard and cuticle oils.

The dropper consists of a glass tube, a flexible silicone bulb, and a threaded ring with a gold aluminium sleeve. The black-and-gold combination pairs well with amber, black, and clear glass. The dropper is suitable for contact with cosmetic products; the declaration can be found in the product parameters.

Which products is the dropper suitable for

  • Oil serums and oil blends – thin to medium-viscosity oils are drawn up quickly and dispensed drop by drop without running down the neck.
  • Water-based serums and tonics with active ingredients – the dropper allows a small amount to be applied directly to the skin or into the palm.
  • Alcohol-based extracts – thin liquids are dispensed one drop at a time.
  • Concentrates for blending – when adding a few drops to a cream or mask, the quantity is easier to judge than when pouring from the neck.

For thick gels, creams, and highly viscous oils, a pump is more suitable.

How to choose the right bottle

Two things determine the choice: the neck type and the bottle height. The neck type of the dropper is stated in the parameters and must match the neck of the bottle; otherwise the closure will not seal. The tube length should correspond to the internal height of the container. The tube should reach just above the bottom so that the contents can be drawn up to the last drop, but it must not rest on the bottom.

Bottles with the same neck type and ready-made dropper-and-bottle combinations are available in the Handymade range. For custom combinations, we recommend verifying the seal, dispensing performance, and behaviour of the container with the specific formulation.

The bottle is filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. The nominal volume is the quantity the container is designed for under normal filling conditions; the total volume is the physical capacity up to the neck opening. The difference between them provides headroom for the dropper tube and for expansion of the contents. Overfilling will cause the contents to overflow through the neck when the dropper is inserted.

Good to know

The silicone bulb may swell or soften with prolonged contact with concentrated essential oils and certain solvents. Store bottles containing such contents upright and verify compatibility on a test sample.

Reuse. Both the glass tube and the bulb can be reused after thorough washing and disinfection. After oily products, rinsing with ethanol will dissolve the greasy film. A dropper with a cracked or stuck bulb should be replaced.

Sorting. The dropper is made from multiple materials. Before sorting, it is advisable to separate the glass tube from the other components.

Frequently asked questions

Which bottle is the black-gold 50 mm dropper compatible with?
The dropper is compatible with bottles and vials that have the same neck type as stated in its parameters and an internal height matching the tube length of 50 mm. The tube should end just above the bottom. If the bottle is too short, the closure cannot be fully tightened; if the bottle is too tall, some contents will remain at the bottom out of reach.
Is the dropper with a silicone bulb suitable for essential oils?
For diluted essential oils in a carrier oil, yes; for long-term storage of concentrated essential oils, only after verification. Silicone may swell and lose elasticity with prolonged contact. It is advisable to store the bottle upright to prevent contents from seeping into the bulb, and to test material compatibility on a sample.
Can the dropper be used to measure an exact dose of a raw material?
No, the dropper dispenses approximately. Drop size depends on the viscosity and surface tension of the liquid, so the same number of drops of an oil and an alcohol extract will not represent the same volume. For the end user, drop-by-drop dispensing is sufficient. In cosmetic manufacturing, where precise quantities matter, raw materials are weighed on a scale.
How is the dropper cleaned and disinfected before filling?
The dropper is washed with warm water and a cleaning agent, rinsed, and disinfected with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol. The solution should be drawn up into the tube and expelled several times to clean the interior of the bulb as well. The dropper is then left to dry completely in a clean place so that residual water does not contaminate the product. Only then should it be fitted onto the filled bottle.
Is the dropper suitable for thick oils and gel serums?
For thick oils, partially; for gel serums, no. Viscous contents are drawn into the narrow tube slowly, the bulb does not fill completely, and dispensing is irregular. Thin to medium-viscosity oils and water-based serums dispense without difficulty. For gels and thick emulsions, a pump bottle is more practical.
