Product description
Black and gold dropper, 71 mm
Black and gold dropper with 18/410 thread replaces the standard cap on a bottle and allows liquid cosmetic preparations to be dispensed drop by drop. It is suited for products where precise and hygienic extraction of small amounts matters, and the combination of a black head with a gold collar gives the bottle a more refined look, which you will appreciate for retail products or gifts.
The packaging material is suitable for use with cosmetic products. The declaration of conformity is available on the product page.
Key benefits
- Precise dosing – the contents are dispensed drop by drop, making it easy to apply serums and oils to the face and to count drops of concentrated ingredients.
- Hygienic extraction – the contents never touch fingers or the area around the neck, reducing the risk of contaminating leave-on preparations.
- Glass pipette – glass does not react with oils or alcohol-based extracts and does not transfer scents between fills, so the dropper can be reused multiple times.
- Black and gold finish – the gold collar with black head pairs well with dark and clear bottles alike and gives the product a polished look without an extra label.
- Standard neck size – bottles in multiple capacities and ready-made sets with the same thread are available in the Handymade range.
How to use the dropper
The dropper screws onto a bottle with an 18/410 neck thread in place of the standard cap. Press the head, then release it while submerged to draw the contents into the pipette, and dispense drop by drop onto the skin or into the palm. Drop size depends on the viscosity and surface tension of the fill, so test the number of drops per dose with your specific preparation.
The length of the dropper determines which bottle it fits. The pipette should reach just above the bottom so the remaining contents can be drawn up, but it must not rest on the base. When selecting a bottle, compare its interior height with the dropper length. Bottle dimensions are listed in their specifications.
Fill the bottle only to the nominal volume, not to the brim. The pipette displaces some of the contents upward when screwed in, and an overfilled bottle will overflow when closing.
Suitable for products such as
- Facial serums – both water-based and oil-based, applied a few drops at a time to the face.
- Oil blends and facial oils – the dropper makes measuring a dose easy without spilling.
- Tinctures and alcohol-based extracts – glass and silicone tolerate alcohol better than soft plastics.
- Concentrates and active ingredients – for components dosed drop by drop into a finished preparation.
- Samples and test batches – small volumes where precise extraction is worthwhile.
Good to know
The dropper combines several materials, each serving a specific function: a glass pipette that does not absorb the scent or colour of the contents, a silicone bulb for suction, an aluminium collar, and an inner PP piece with a thread that seals the neck.
Before first use, wash the dropper, rinse with clean water, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, and allow to dry completely. Residual moisture in the pipette would act as a foreign component in an oil-based or anhydrous preparation and could shorten its stability.
The aluminium collar is an external decorative part and should not be in prolonged contact with the contents. If the bottle neck gets soiled during filling, wipe the thread and collar dry so that residue does not dry under the cap and make opening difficult.
The silicone bulb tolerates vegetable oils and common cosmetic actives well. For preparations with a high proportion of essential oils or solvents, check whether the bulb softens or swells over time. Also test the seal of the complete assembly when the bottle is inverted, especially if the product is to be shipped.
The dropper is not intended for preparations that must be fully protected from air exposure. A small amount of air enters the bottle with each use, which should be taken into account when formulating oxidation-sensitive ingredients with regard to preservation and antioxidants.
Once emptied and thoroughly cleaned, the dropper can be reused with a different fill.
