Product description
The black-and-gold dropper is a dropper closure for small bottles and vials. It is used for precise dispensing of liquid preparations drop by drop, particularly facial serums, oils and tinctures, while also sealing the bottle. The combination of black and gold gives the packaging a subtle look that suits both dark and clear glass. The user can measure out exactly as much product as needed, without spillage.
Key features
- Precise dispensing – the contents are drawn up and released drop by drop, which is practical for concentrated serums, oil blends and preparations applied in small amounts.
- Glass tube – glass is a chemically resistant and neutral material that does not absorb fragrances or colorants from the contents, making it suitable for both oils and aqueous solutions.
- Silicone bulb – the flexible part used to draw up the contents has a good grip even in oily hands and returns to its original shape after compression.
- Aluminium collar – the metal outer shell of the closure gives the packaging a cohesive appearance and is more scratch-resistant than plastic.
- 18/410 thread – fits bottles with this neck type, which is common for small-volume containers.
How to use the dropper
The dropper is screwed onto the bottle neck in the same way as a regular cap. To dispense the product, the bulb is compressed, the glass tube is submerged in the contents, the bulb is released, and the drawn-up volume is then dispensed drop by drop onto the skin or into the palm. The inner polypropylene insert with the thread ensures a firm seat on the neck; the aluminium collar covers it.
The length of the glass tube should match the height of the bottle. At the correct length, it reaches just above the bottom, so the remaining contents can be drawn up without the tube pressing against the bottom when screwed on. The dropper length is listed in the product specifications; the bottle height is listed in the specifications for the relevant packaging.
Before first use, we recommend disassembling the dropper, washing it with warm water, optionally disinfecting with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol, and allowing it to dry completely. Residual water in the tube would dilute aqueous preparations and cloud oil-based ones.
Suitable for products such as
- facial and hair serums – both aqueous and oil-based, where small and precise dosing is important
- pure vegetable oils and oil blends for the face, beard or cuticles
- tinctures and alcohol extracts dispensed drop by drop
- active ingredient concentrates that the customer adds to a cream
- samples and trial sizes of fragrance or scent blends in small bottles
The dropper is not suitable for thick creams, high-viscosity gels or preparations containing solid particles. The tube cannot draw them up and the bulb would become blocked.
Good to know
Leak-tightness in transit depends on how well the closure seats on the specific bottle neck and how firmly it is tightened. For each new bottle–dropper combination, we recommend testing for leaks in the inverted position and after a temperature change. For mail-order sales, it is advisable to provide additional security for the bottle with the dropper, for example with shrink wrap or by placing it in a suitable box.
Silicone is a material with good resistance, but when used with concentrated essential oils, pure fragrance blends and strong alcohol solutions, the behaviour of the bulb may change over time. Compatibility should be verified with a longer-term test on the finished formulation.
The glass tube is fragile. It may crack if the bottle is dropped or if the dropper is carelessly screwed onto a too-short container. The aluminium collar should not be soaked in water for extended periods; dry it after washing.
The dropper materials are suitable for contact with cosmetic products. For preparations with a higher proportion of solvents or at extreme pH values, we always recommend your own stability test with the specific formulation.
The dropper is designed for repeated use. Once the contents are used up, it can be disassembled, washed, disinfected and used again. When disposing of the dropper, it is advisable to separate the metal, glass and plastic parts by material.
