Fine Mist Sprayer, 18/415, black top, 115 mm

A plastic spray pump with an 18/415 thread turns a bottle into a sprayer that applies the liquid as a fine mist. It suits thin aqueous and alcoholic products: facial tonics, hydrolates, hair and body sprays, air fresheners and disinfectants. The contents do not come into contact with hands during dispensing as with an open neck, which helps keep the product clean throughout use.

The top is made of black polypropylene (PP), which is lightweight and unbreakable. The black colour pairs well with brown, blue and clear glass as well as plastic bottles. The long dip tube is designed for taller bottles and can be trimmed to fit a specific container. The sprayer is suitable for contact with cosmetic products.

Which products it suits

The sprayer works reliably with liquids that have a consistency close to water. The thicker the contents, the more poorly they atomise: instead of a mist, a stream or large droplets form.

• Tonics and hydrolates – a fine mist covers the skin evenly without the need for a cotton pad.
• Hair sprays and hair waters – thin aqueous or aqueous-alcoholic blends for detangling, hydration or scalp care.
• Body and room fragrances – alcoholic and aqueous blends with a solubilised fragrance component.
• Cleansing and disinfecting products – thin solutions for hands or surfaces.

Thick gels, lotions, creams and pure vegetable oils are not suitable for this type of closure. A pump or dropper is more appropriate for those.

Dispensing and working with the sprayer

One press delivers a small, consistently equal dose. The exact value is stated in the product parameters. This makes it possible to estimate fairly precisely how many presses correspond to the recommended amount of product, and to include this figure on the label.

On first use, the sprayer needs to be pressed several times without dispensing until the mechanism and dip tube are filled with liquid. Only then will it begin to dispense evenly.

Good to know

Filling the bottle. Every container has a nominal volume — the volume it is designed for under normal filling conditions — and a total volume to the rim, which represents the physical capacity up to the neck. The difference between them is the clearance for the sprayer mechanism, the dip tube and the expansion of the contents when temperature changes. It should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the rim, otherwise the contents will overflow when the sprayer is fitted.

Preparation before first filling. Rinse the sprayer with clean water, then pump isopropyl alcohol or ethanol through it several times and allow it to dry completely. This disinfects the inside of the mechanism and the dip tube, which are otherwise impossible to reach.
