Plastic bottle, clear 24/410, 100 ml

A lightweight clear PET bottle with a nominal volume of 100 ml and a 24/410 neck finish is designed for filling liquid and semi-liquid cosmetic preparations. The transparent material reveals the contents, making it suitable for products where colour or clear consistency should appeal to the customer: tonics, micellar waters, face lotions, liquid soaps, shampoos, shower gels, or light body milks in travel or trial sizes. PET is break-resistant and lightweight, making it a practical choice for bathroom use, travel, and postal shipment.

Why choose this bottle

• Break resistance – unlike glass, it can withstand a fall on bathroom tiles and rougher handling during shipping, which is an advantage for travel sizes and postal shipments.

Nominal and total volume

Nominal volume is the amount the bottle is designed for under normal filling conditions. Total brim volume is the physical capacity up to the neck and is somewhat larger. The difference provides clearance for the closure, pump, or sprayer that extend into the bottle interior, and allows for expansion of the contents with temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. Exact values for both volumes are listed in the product parameters.

Closures

The bottle is supplied without a closure. Closures with the same 24/410 neck finish and ready-made bottle + closure combinations are available in the Handymade range. For custom combinations, we recommend verifying leak-tightness, dispensing performance, and packaging compatibility with the specific formulation, particularly for thin liquids and alcohol-containing products.

What to know when working with a PET bottle

Light and content stability. A clear container does not protect the contents from light. For products sensitive to UV radiation and oxidation — such as those containing vitamin C, retinoids, a higher proportion of essential oils, or unstabilised vegetable oils — dark glass or an opaque container is more appropriate. With a clear bottle, storing away from direct sunlight and using an antioxidant in the formulation helps.

Temperature. PET is not designed for hot filling. Allow emulsions and gels to cool to room temperature before filling; otherwise, wall deformation and shape distortion may occur. Do not wash the bottle in boiling water or in a dishwasher on high-temperature programmes.

Chemical resistance. PET handles water-based, glycerin-based, and standard emulsion products without issue. Caution is warranted with pure essential oils, concentrated fragrance compositions, high alcohol concentrations, and solvents, which may gradually soften or cloud the material. With such contents, we recommend testing a sample and monitoring the bottle for several weeks.

Preparation before first filling. Rinse the bottle and optionally sanitise with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, then leave it to dry completely with the neck facing down. Residual water would dilute the contents and could impair the effectiveness of the preservative system.

Labelling. The cylindrical wall without sharp transitions makes label application straightforward. The usable labelling area can be calculated from the dimensions listed in the product parameters.

Recycling. PET is a commonly recyclable plastic. An empty, rinsed bottle belongs in the sorted plastic waste collection.
