Plastic cap, 24/410, disc top, transparent

This is a plastic disc top cap with a 24/410 neck finish that turns an ordinary bottle into a practical dispensing container. It opens by pressing one side of the disc — the other side lifts and reveals the dispensing opening. The contents are then dispensed by squeezing the bottle, with no unscrewing and no searching for a misplaced cap. The cap is made from polypropylene (PP) and is transparent, so it adds no extra colour to the packaging and works equally well with clear and coloured bottles.

It is best suited for liquid to medium-viscosity products dispensed into the palm: shampoos, shower gels, liquid soaps, body lotions, conditioners, and light emulsions. The cap is suitable for use with cosmetic products; the declaration of conformity is available on the product page.

Why choose a disc top cap

• One-handed dispensing – pressing the disc opens the port and the contents are pushed out directly from the bottle; ideal in the shower or at the sink where one hand is often occupied.
• Nothing gets lost – the closure stays on the bottle and is never set aside or dropped, which is an advantage over a conventional screw cap.
• Controlled dosage – the amount dispensed is determined by how firmly the bottle is squeezed, so the product does not pour out all at once as it would through an open neck.
• Less air contact – contents exit only through a small opening, so the entire product surface is not exposed to air with each use.
• Unobtrusive appearance – transparent PP lets the bottle and label stand out without imposing a specific colour on the packaging.

Which bottles and products is it suitable for

The cap fits bottles with a 24/410 neck finish. Because contents are dispensed by squeezing, the container must be squeezable — typically a PET, HDPE, or LDPE bottle with a wall that springs back after compression. It can be screwed onto a glass bottle, but squeeze dispensing will not work in that case.

For fill consistency, a simple rule applies: the product should be fluid enough to pass through the opening under reasonable pressure, yet not so thin that it drips freely from an open cap. Suitable products include:

• shampoos and conditioners – the typical viscosity of liquid hair products flows through the opening smoothly;
• shower gels and liquid soaps – the classic application for a disc top, dispensing directly into the palm or onto a washcloth;
• body lotions and light emulsions – provided they are not too thick; with denser emulsions, more pressure is needed and the dose is less consistent;
• cleansing gels and light cleansing emulsions – liquid products with mild thickening.

A disc top is not suitable for very thick creams and butters — the contents will not pass through the opening or will dispense in jerky, uneven doses. For such products, a jar or pot is a better choice. With very thin, water-based products (tonics, hydrolats), dripping and leaking are a risk; a spray pump or dropper is more appropriate.

Good to know

Preparation before first filling. Before use, we recommend washing the cap, sanitising it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, and allowing it to dry completely — especially when filling products with an aqueous phase, where microbiological cleanliness matters.

Leak resistance during transport. The disc top is a dispensing closure, not a shipping closure. With the disc closed it retains contents under normal handling, but under strong compression in a parcel or with significant temperature changes, a small amount of product may escape. When shipping finished products, it is advisable to add protection — for example, a film under the cap or a bag around the bottle — and always test the seal with the specific bottle and contents.

Material and compatibility. Polypropylene is a common packaging plastic with good resistance to aqueous and surfactant-based products. For formulations with a high proportion of essential oils, solvents, or purely oil-based products, compatibility should be verified. Prolonged contact may affect the flexibility of the disc hinge or cause hazing.

Transparency. Transparent PP is not glass-clear; it has a slight haze typical of the material. It does not tint the contents and has a neutral appearance on the bottle.

Reuse. The cap can be washed and reused after the bottle is empty. When switching to a different type of product, rinse it thoroughly so that no residue from the previous contents remains in the dispensing port. If the disc hinge loosens with extended use and the disc lifts on its own, it is time to replace the cap.
