Product description

Plastic pump dispenser with a 24/410 neck finish is a pump for bottles with liquid to medium-viscosity contents. A single press delivers a consistent dose without opening or tilting the bottle. It is best suited for liquid soaps, shower gels, shampoos, conditioners and body lotions — products used frequently and with wet hands.

The long dip tube reaches the bottom of tall bottles and can be trimmed for shorter ones. The dispenser is suitable for contact with cosmetic products; the declaration of conformity is available on the product page.

When to use a dispenser

  • Consistent dose with every press – product consumption is predictable and customers will not take more than they need. The dose size is listed in the specifications.
  • Hygienic use – the contents remain sealed inside the bottle. Shower water and hand residue cannot enter during dispensing, which reduces the load on the preservative system.
  • One-handed operation – an advantage at the sink, in the shower, and with products applied to wet skin or hair.
  • Adjustable dip tube length – one dispenser fits bottles of different heights with the same neck finish.

Bottle selection and filling

The dispenser fits bottles with a 24/410 neck finish. Bottles with the same neck type and ready-made bottle-and-dispenser sets are available in the Handymade range. The white and matte-gold finish suits clear, white and dark bottles alike. For custom combinations, we recommend checking the seal, dispensing performance and packaging compatibility with the specific formulation.

When filling, it is useful to distinguish between two bottle capacities. Nominal volume is the amount the bottle is designed to hold under normal filling conditions. Total volume to the brim is the physical capacity up to the neck. The difference between them is the allowance for the dispenser body and dip tube, which displace some contents when screwed in, and for expansion of the contents with temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim — otherwise the product will overflow when the dispenser is attached.

Trimming the dip tube and first use

The dip tube is trimmed with sharp scissors or a knife to match the height of the specific bottle. The best way to measure the length is to hold the dispenser against the outside of the bottle. The tube should end just above the bottom so that as much of the contents as possible is used up.

Cut the tube at an angle. A straight-cut end can suction against the bottle bottom, making it difficult or impossible for the dispenser to draw up product. An angled cut keeps the opening clear even when the tube is touching the bottom.

On first use, press the dispenser several times with no output until the mechanism fills with product. With thicker products, this takes a few more presses than with liquid soap.

Good to know

Preparation before filling. We recommend flushing a new dispenser: pump clean water through it several times, then isopropyl alcohol or ethanol. Allow it to dry completely so that residual water does not enter the product.

Product consistency. The dispenser works reliably with liquid and medium-viscosity products that flow freely to the tube on their own. It will not draw up thick creams, butters or balms. If a product is borderline, a quick test helps: if it does not pour back on its own when the bottle is tilted, it is not suitable for a pump dispenser.

Products with solid particles (scrubs with salt, sugar or crushed pits, soaps with dried herbs) clog the dispenser valve. Only smooth, particle-free products are suitable for packaging with a pump dispenser.

Material compatibility. The dispenser combines PP and PE plastics with aluminium. These plastics generally tolerate aqueous, surfactant-based and standard oil formulations well. With products containing a high proportion of essential oils, alcohol or solvents, it is advisable to carry out a compatibility test with a filled bottle and check the dispenser action and seal after a few weeks.

Reuse. The dispenser can be transferred to another bottle with the same neck finish. The mechanism will always retain traces of the previous product, so it must be thoroughly cleaned and dried before refilling.

Frequently asked questions

Which bottle fits the 24/410 plastic pump dispenser?
The 24/410 plastic pump dispenser fits bottles with a 24/410 neck finish, regardless of material or volume. The designation refers to the neck diameter and thread type, not the bottle size. The neck type is listed in each bottle's specifications. For bottles from other suppliers, we recommend verifying the seal by filling with water and inverting the bottle.
Is the plastic pump dispenser suitable for thick creams and body butters?
No, the plastic pump dispenser is not suitable for thick creams and body butters. It draws product up through the dip tube, so it requires a consistency that flows on its own: liquid soap, shower gel, shampoo, conditioner or body lotion. A thick cream will form a void around the tube and the dispenser will start drawing air. A jar or tub is a better choice for such products.
Can the plastic pump dispenser be used for oils or products containing alcohol?
Yes, the plastic pump dispenser can also be used for shower, massage and body oils. PP and PE plastics generally tolerate common vegetable oils well. For products with a high proportion of alcohol or essential oils, a compatibility test with the specific formulation is required. Very thin liquids will be dispensed in a strong stream; a spray bottle is more practical for these.
Why does the dispenser not pump after being attached to the bottle?
A new dispenser initially draws air after being attached, so it needs to be pressed several times before the mechanism fills with product. If it still does not pump, the cause is usually the dip tube suctioned against the bottom, a product that is too thick, or particles in the valve. Trimming the tube at an angle and pumping warm water through the dispenser will help.
How to clean the plastic pump dispenser before reuse?
The plastic pump dispenser is cleaned by pumping: submerge the dip tube in warm water and press until clean, foam-free water comes through. Then flush in the same way with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow to dry completely. We do not recommend disassembling the mechanism. If old product has dried inside and the action is jerky, it is more reliable to use a new dispenser.
