Product description
The silver glossy dropper 44 mm is a closure that turns a bottle into a container with drop-by-drop dosing. It is suitable wherever the product is used in small quantities and needs to be measured more precisely than simply pouring from the neck: for facial serums, oils, alcoholic extracts, or concentrated active ingredients.
The dropper is designed for bottles and vials with an 18/410 neck. The part that comes into contact with the contents is primarily the glass tube; the dose is drawn up by a flexible silicone bulb, and the glossy aluminium sleeve gives the closure a metallic appearance.
What the dropper is suitable for
- Facial and hair serums – water-based and oil-based serums are dispensed drop by drop, making it easy to stick to the recommended amount per application.
- Vegetable oils and oil blends – thin to medium-viscosity oils are drawn up into the tube without difficulty, and the bottle neck stays clean.
- Alcoholic extracts and tinctures for cosmetics – the glass tube is suitable for both water-based and alcohol-based contents.
- Concentrates and active ingredients – when preparing small batches, the dropper also works as a simple tool for adding components drop by drop.
It is less suitable for thick gels, creams, and highly viscous oils. Such contents are drawn into the narrow tube slowly and incompletely, so a pump or a jar is a better choice for them.
How to choose the right length and neck size
Two measurements matter when selecting a dropper: the neck type and the tube length. The neck type must match the bottle; otherwise the closure will not tighten or will not seal. The tube length should correspond to the internal height of the bottle: the tip should reach just above the bottom so that the last of the contents can be drawn up, but must not rest on the bottom.
Bottles with the same neck type and ready-made bottle-and-dropper combinations are available in the Handymade range.
Check the length dry before filling. Screw the dropper onto the empty bottle and see where the end of the tube reaches. If it rests on the bottom, the closure will not tighten and the glass may crack when you try to force it.
What to know when filling and using
The bottle should be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. The nominal volume is the quantity for which the container is intended under normal filling conditions. The total volume is the physical capacity up to the neck. The difference between the two provides a reserve for the dropper tube, which displaces some of the contents when inserted, and for the expansion of the liquid with temperature changes. An overfilled bottle will overflow when closed, and the contents will enter the thread.
Before first use, wash the dropper, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, and allow it to dry thoroughly. The inside of the tube and the bulb dries more slowly than the outer surface. Any residual water in the bulb would enter the product on the first draw.
Store the bottle with the dropper upright so that the contents do not remain in the bulb. With prolonged contact with concentrated essential oils or solvents, the silicone bulb may swell and soften.
The glass tube is fragile. Handle it carefully when washing and tightening, and check after any drop whether the tip has chipped.
