Product description

The white-gold dropper 71 mm is a closure that seals the bottle while allowing you to dispense the contents drop by drop. Liquid is drawn up by squeezing the silicone bulb into the glass tube, so only as much as needed can be taken out, without pouring. It is particularly suited for thin, fluid products: facial serums, oil blends, and liquid actives used in small doses.

How the dropper dispenses and seals

The dropper consists of three functional parts: the silicone bulb, the glass tube, and a screw cap with a metal collar. The glass tube is the part that primarily comes into contact with the bottle's contents.

  • Drop-by-drop dispensing – squeezing and releasing the bulb draws part of the contents into the tube; gentle squeezing then releases it drop by drop.
  • Hygienic extraction – contents are not touched by fingers, reducing the risk of contaminating the product during use.
  • Tight closure – once screwed on, the dropper seals the bottle like a standard cap; there is no need to swap it for a different closure after each use.

The dropper is a dispensing aid, not a measuring device. Drop size varies with the viscosity and surface tension of the liquid — oil drops differently than a water-based serum. If a customer needs to dispense a precise number of drops, it is recommended to verify the drop size directly with the finished product.

Which products is it suited for

It works best with free-flowing liquids: water-based and oil-based serums, facial and body oils, beard and hair-end oils, alcoholic and glycerine-based extracts, tonics in small containers, and essential oil blends diluted in a carrier oil. Thick gels, emulsions, and creams are difficult to draw into the narrow tube and hard to push out; for those, a pump is more appropriate.

The white-gold finish suits products where packaging appearance matters, such as serums and facial oils intended for sale or as a gift.

The dropper is suitable for contact with cosmetic products; the declaration is available in the product parameters.

Bottle selection and filling

Two things matter: thread type and bottle height. The dropper thread must match the bottle neck (the type is listed in the parameters). The tube should reach just above the bottom so that nearly all the contents can be retrieved, but must not rest on the bottom. Bottles with matching neck types and ready-made bottle-and-dropper combinations are available in the Handymade range. With a custom combination, we recommend checking the seal, dispensing performance, and container behaviour with the specific formulation.

When filling, it is worth knowing the difference between the nominal and total volume of the bottle. The nominal volume is the amount the container is designed for under normal filling conditions. The total volume is the physical capacity up to the rim of the neck. The difference between them is a reserve for the closure and for expansion of the contents with temperature changes.

The bottle should be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. When the dropper tube is inserted, it displaces some of the contents, and an overfilled bottle would cause liquid to overflow through the neck and contaminate the thread.

What is worth knowing

  • Preparation before first use – the dropper is washed, disinfected with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, and left to dry completely.
  • Glass tube – it is fragile and should not be levered against the bottle neck when fitting. Glass does not tolerate sudden temperature changes, so rinsing a hot dropper under cold water is not recommended.
  • Silicone bulb – prolonged contact with strong solvents may cause the silicone to swell or soften. Contents of this type should be tested in advance.
  • Metal cap collar – residues of oil or serum should be wiped from the surface with a soft cloth; abrasive cleaning agents may scratch it.

Frequently asked questions

Which bottles is the white-gold dropper 71 mm compatible with?
It is compatible with bottles whose neck matches the dropper thread type; the thread type is listed in the parameters. The second criterion is bottle height: the tube should end just above the bottom. In a bottle that is too tall, it will not reach the remaining contents; in one that is too short, the tube will rest on the bottom and the cap cannot be tightened fully.
Is the white-gold dropper suitable for oil serums and facial oils?
Yes, thin oil serums and facial oils are among the most common contents dispensed with a dropper. The glass tube is mainly the part that comes into contact with the oil and is easy to clean. Thicker oils draw up more slowly and form larger drops, so it is worth testing the dispensing performance with the finished product before filling an entire batch.
Can the dropper with a silicone bulb be used for essential oils?
For essential oils diluted in a carrier oil, yes; for undiluted essential oils, caution is required. Prolonged contact with concentrated essential oils and their vapours may cause the silicone to swell or lose its elasticity. If a bottle containing such contents is to be sealed with the dropper for an extended period, it is advisable to carry out a compatibility test with the specific oil beforehand.
Why does the dropper not draw liquid into the full length of the tube?
This is normal behaviour, not a fault of the dropper. The amount of liquid drawn up is determined by the bulb volume and the force of the squeeze, not by the length of the tube, so the tube typically fills only partially. More liquid can be drawn by squeezing the bulb before inserting the tube into the contents and releasing it only once the tube is submerged.
How is the dropper cleaned and can it be reused?
Yes, the dropper can be reused after thorough cleaning. The tube and bulb are rinsed with warm water and a mild detergent, flushed with clean water, and disinfected with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, drawing it into the tube several times. The dropper must dry completely before the next use. A bulb that has lost its elasticity or cracked should no longer be used.
