An aluminium jar with lid and a nominal volume of 15 ml is a small, lightweight and unbreakable container for thick and solid cosmetic products. Aluminium blocks light, which is especially valued for formulations containing plant oils and butters sensitive to oxidation. It is suitable for lip balms, salves, solid perfumes, hand and nail butters, beard waxes and cream samples.

The flat jar fits in a pocket or bag, making it ideal for travel sizes, gift sets and test samples of new formulations. The lid has an inner foam insert that seats against the rim of the jar and improves the seal.

Suitable product types

• Anhydrous balms and salves – blends of waxes, butters and oils poured hot and solidifying into a smooth, even surface inside the jar.
• Solid perfumes and fragrance waxes – the metal wall protects fragrance components from light.
• Butters and thick creams – whipped butters, hand creams or cuticle care products in a compact size.
• Samples and travel sizes – a small quantity of product for testing or travel.

The jar is not intended for thin liquid contents such as tonics, serums or oils. The lid seals adequately for solid and semi-solid products, but not for liquids that may spill during transport. For each new formulation, we recommend verifying the seal with the specific contents.

Nominal and total volume

Nominal volume is the quantity for which the container is intended under normal filling conditions. Total brim-full volume is the physical capacity of the jar measured to the top edge. The difference between them provides headroom for the lid with insert and for the expansion of the contents with temperature changes. The jar should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim.

Useful information

Preparation before filling. Wash both the jar and the lid, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow to dry completely. Do not soak the foam insert in the lid; simply wipe it with disinfectant and allow it to air out.

Handling hot contents. The jar walls heat up immediately when hot mass is poured in. Allow filled jars to solidify on a flat surface and attach the lid only after complete cooling, to prevent condensation forming underneath it.

Material sensitivity. Aluminium is a soft metal; the thin wall may dent under strong pressure or on impact. When packaging and shipping finished products, protect the jars from compression.

Labelling. A label can be placed on the lid or on the base of the jar. The dimensions required for label design are listed in the product parameters. Degrease the surface before applying the label to ensure good adhesion.
