Product description
An aluminium jar with a lid is used for packaging small quantities of solid and semi-solid cosmetics: lip balms, solid perfumes, ointments, hand waxes, or cream samples. With a nominal volume of 15 ml, it is used as a trial size, travel size, or part of a gift set. It has an epoxy coating on the inside, so the contents do not react with the aluminium. The same jar is also used for small container candles.
The silver surface is neutral and can be complemented with a custom label. Aluminium does not let light through, so the contents are better protected than in clear glass or plastic. The jar is lightweight and will not break, which is useful when sending samples by post.
What it is suitable for
- Lip balms and solid balms – the wax filling is poured into the jar directly while hot and holds its shape once set.
- Solid perfumes and fragrance waxes – the small volume corresponds to typical consumption of this type of product.
- Ointments and thick creams – samples to try before purchasing a larger size.
- Small candles – a wick with a sustainer is fixed in the jar and filled with wax. The result is a candle for testing a fragrance or a small gift.
- Dry blends – powder masks, bath salt, or a single-use amount of scrub.
Nominal and total volume
The nominal volume is the quantity the jar is designed for under standard filling. The total volume to the brim is the full interior space up to the upper rim. The difference between them provides a margin for the lid and for the filling, which expands slightly with temperature changes. The jar is therefore filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. With wax fillings, also account for the fact that wax forms a slightly raised or sunken centre once set. Both values are listed in the specifications.
Pour wax and solid balms into the jar at the lowest temperature at which the material is still liquid. The surface will then set evenly and no cracks or cavities will form around the rim.
What is good to know
Before the first filling, we recommend washing both the jar and the lid and allowing them to dry completely. The epoxy coating protects the interior as long as it is not scratched with a sharp tool, for example when removing a set filling.
The lid has an insert made of foam polyethylene. The jar is designed for solid and semi-solid fillings and is not suitable for thin or liquid contents such as oils or serums. We recommend testing the seal with your specific formulation before a larger production run, especially if the product will be transported.
The packaging is suitable for use with cosmetic products and the declaration of conformity is listed with the product. After use, aluminium belongs in metal recycling and the lid insert in plastics.
Aluminium heats up quickly when the candle is burning. Place the candle in the jar on a non-flammable surface and never leave it burning unattended.
