Product description
Glass bottle, vial, white 30 ml is a small container made of white glass intended for filling serums, facial oils, tinctures and other liquid or low-viscosity preparations in smaller quantities. The opaque glass conceals the contents and limits light exposure, which is valuable for formulations with sensitive ingredients. The neck has a wide-mouth thread type, so the bottle can be fitted with a dropper, pump, spray or a simple cap.
"Vial" refers to the shape of the bottle — a narrow neck with straight walls — not to its intended use. The container is suitable for use with cosmetic products and meets the requirements applicable to cosmetic packaging; the declaration of suitability for contact with cosmetics is stated in the product parameters.
Why choose white glass
- Protection of contents from light – white glass is not transparent, so the contents are not exposed to direct light in the same way as in clear glass. Suitable for oils rich in unsaturated fatty acids, vitamin serums and preparations with essential oils.
- Glass resistance to contents – glass does not react with oils, alcohol-based tinctures or essential oils, does not soften and does not absorb scents. It is also suitable for contents that could damage plastic containers over time.
- Clean appearance – the white surface looks uniform and provides a good background for labels. Suitable for small brands and gift packaging.
- Volume for leave-on preparations – 30 ml corresponds to a standard packaging size for serums, facial oils or oil elixirs that are dispensed drop by drop and used up over a period of several months.
Suitable for products such as
Facial serums on both water and oil bases, facial and body oils, oil blends for cuticles, beard oils, herbal tinctures and alcohol extracts, perfume oils, facial tonics in travel size or cream samples with lower viscosity. For thick creams and butters, the narrow neck is not practical; a jar is a better fit for these.
Nominal and total volume
For each container we state two figures. The nominal volume is the quantity the bottle is intended for under normal filling conditions. The total volume to the brim is the physical capacity up to the neck and is always slightly larger. The difference provides headspace for a dropper or pump, which when attached takes up part of the space in the neck, and for slight thermal expansion of the contents. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim, otherwise the contents will overflow when the closure is fitted.
If you are using a dropper, leave a little more headspace in the neck than you would with a plain cap. The glass tube of the dropper will displace some of the contents upward, and with a full bottle the contents will spill when closing.
Preparation before filling
It is recommended to wash a new container with warm water and a mild detergent before first use, rinse thoroughly and sanitise with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol at a concentration of at least 70 %. The bottle must be completely dry before filling. Residual water, particularly in oil-based and anhydrous preparations, causes cloudiness and reduces stability. For water-based formulations, sanitising the container cannot be replaced by a preservative — these are two separate measures.
When filling hot emulsions or solutions, bear in mind that glass does not tolerate sudden temperature changes. Hot contents should not be poured into a cold bottle. Allow the container to reach room temperature first, or wait until the contents have cooled before filling.
Choosing a closure
The bottle has a neck with a 18/410 thread. Closures with the same neck type and ready-made bottle + closure combinations are available from Handymade. When assembling your own combination, we recommend verifying the seal and dispensing performance with your specific formulation in advance, particularly with pumps and sprays, which are sensitive to the viscosity of the contents.
Good to know
- Reuse – glass can be reused after thorough washing and sanitising. The closure is more likely to need replacing, especially a dropper with a rubber bulb, which gradually deteriorates with use.
- Labelling – the straight walls of the bottle make it easy to apply a label; label dimensions can be found in the product parameters. An opaque label is not required on a white surface.
- Checking the contents – with opaque glass you cannot see the fill level or any sediment. If you need to monitor the quantity, opt for a transparent container.
- Fragility – when using as travel packaging or shipping to customers, allow for protective packaging. Glass is heavier than plastic of the same volume.
- Recycling – the container belongs in glass collection; remove the closure made from a different material before disposal.
For oils and concentrated essential oils, check that the closure gasket material is resistant to the contents. The glass itself is stable; the weak point is usually the sealing insert or the rubber element of the dropper.
