Kraft paper bag with rectangular bottom

Kraft paper bag with rectangular bottom is a simple stand-up packaging for soaps, bath bombs, salt blends and herb sachets. Once filled, it stands upright and holds its shape, making it suitable both as secondary packaging for small cosmetic products and as gift wrapping for purchases. It is made from pure paper with no plastic layer, so after use it goes into paper waste.

The bag is of food-grade quality and is suitable for direct contact with dry foods such as dried herbs, tea blends, nuts or baked goods. It is also suitable for contact with cosmetic products and for technical use, such as packaging small accessories or samples.

What the bag is suitable for

Solid cosmetic products – soaps, solid shampoos, bath salts or bath bombs can be placed directly into the bag, or pre-wrapped in protective paper or film.
Dry foods – herbs, teas, dried fruit and seeds require no additional inner packaging thanks to the food-grade quality of the paper.
Gift and retail packaging – the natural look of brown paper provides a neutral base for a label, stamp or ribbon.
Samples and small items – neat packaging of samples, accessories or orders handed over in person.

How to use the bag

The bag is supplied flat-folded. Before filling, the rectangular bottom is opened out and the bag is stood upright, which makes pouring and inserting multiple items at once easier. Once filled, the top edge is folded over once or twice and sealed with a sticker, clip or ribbon. Dimensions are listed in the product parameters, which allow you to assess in advance which products will fit inside.

Paper without a barrier layer is not resistant to moisture or grease. Products containing oil, butter or water — such as fresh soap, balms or solid oils — should be inserted already wrapped in parchment, cellophane or film, otherwise stains may appear on the paper.

The bag is intended for storing and transporting dry contents. Insert solid cosmetic products only after they have fully cured and dried.

Good to know

Kraft paper is breathable, meaning the contents of the bag are not fully separated from the surrounding air. Aromatic products — such as soaps with fragrance oil — may over time release some of their scent into the paper and surroundings. If you need to preserve the fragrance, combine the bag with an inner packaging that will contain it.

Self-adhesive labels stick well to the bag, and it can also be stamped directly. When printing with an inkjet printer or marker, bear in mind that the absorbent paper may cause ink to spread slightly. It is worth testing one piece before a larger run.

If you use the bag as gift packaging, simply fold the top edge over twice and seal it with a paper label showing the product name and ingredient list. This gives you a closed package and the space for mandatory labelling at the same time.

An undamaged bag can be reused. After use, it belongs in the paper waste, provided it is not contaminated with grease.

Is the kraft paper bag suitable for food?

Can soap be wrapped in a kraft bag?

Yes, the bag is often used for wrapping soap, but the soap should be fully cured and dry. Cold-process soap should only be inserted after the cure period is complete; fresh soap would dampen the paper and could leave greasy marks. For soaps with a high superfatting level, we recommend an inner wrap of parchment or film.

Will a kraft paper bag contain oily or greasy products?

No, the bag is not resistant to grease or moisture. Balms, solid oils, butters or products with a high fat content must first be wrapped in parchment, cellophane or another barrier film before being placed in the bag. The paper itself serves as the outer, presentation packaging.

How is a kraft bag closed?

The bag has no built-in closure; the top edge is folded over and secured. A self-adhesive label, paper tape, clip or ribbon is most commonly used. For a firmer seal, fold the edge over twice. When selling cosmetics, the label can also serve as the mandatory product labelling.

Where does a kraft paper bag go after use?

The bag is made from pure paper with material code PAP 22 and belongs in the paper waste. The condition is that it must not be contaminated with grease or residues of the contents. A clean, undamaged bag can also be reused before recycling, for example for storing dried herbs.

Why does the bag have a rectangular bottom, and what is the advantage over a flat bag?

The rectangular bottom allows the bag to stand upright, making it easier to fill and keeping its shape on a shelf or in a shipment. A flat bag without a bottom tends to collapse with loose contents and is harder to load with multiple items at once.
