Product description

Plastic fabric softener bottle with a volume of 500 ml is designed for home and small-batch toiletry production: fabric softeners, liquid detergents, laundry gels and cleaning products. Clear plastic shows the colour and remaining contents at a glance, so it is easy to see when the bottle needs refilling. The plastic is lightweight and will not shatter if dropped, which is useful in the laundry room and bathroom where the bottle is handled with wet hands.

The wide neck makes filling easier and allows thorough rinsing when the bottle is reused. The packaging is suitable for contact with cosmetic products; a declaration of conformity is available with the product.

What the bottle is suitable for

  • Fabric softeners and laundry rinse aids – the clear wall makes it easy to see whether the contents have separated and need shaking before use.
  • Liquid detergents and laundry gels – including thicker formulations that fill easily through the wide neck.
  • Household cleaning products – such as water-based dishwashing or floor cleaning solutions.
  • Rinse-off cosmetic refills – liquid soap, shower gel or shampoo used to top up smaller pump dispensers.

Nominal and total volume

Nominal volume is the volume the bottle is designed for under normal filling conditions. Total brim volume is the physical capacity up to the neck and is slightly larger. The difference serves as a reserve for the closure and for expansion of the contents when the temperature changes.

The bottle is filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. With fabric softeners that are shaken before use, the headspace below the neck allows the contents to be mixed.

Good to know

Preparation before first filling. Wash the bottle with warm water and a small amount of cleaning agent, rinse thoroughly, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow to dry completely. Any remaining water inside the packaging places unnecessary strain on the product's preservation.

Filling temperature. Plastic may deform at high temperatures, so fill the contents only after cooling to room temperature.

A higher proportion of essential oils, fragrance compounds or solvents may degrade the plastic over time. For such formulations, we recommend testing the container's behaviour with a trial sample over several weeks.

Closure. Closures with the same neck type (listed in the product parameters) and ready-made bottle-and-closure combinations are available in the Handymade range. When combining parts yourself, we recommend checking the seal, dosing performance and container behaviour with your specific formulation.

Labelling. Labels adhere best to a dry, degreased surface. The bottle dimensions needed for label design are listed in the product parameters.

Reuse and recycling. The bottle can be refilled after thorough washing and disinfection. The empty packaging is recyclable as plastic.

Frequently asked questions

What is the 500 ml plastic fabric softener bottle used for?
The 500 ml plastic fabric softener bottle is primarily used for fabric softeners, liquid detergents, laundry gels and household cleaning products. It also works as a storage bottle for liquid soap, shower gel or shampoo. The wide neck makes filling thicker liquids easier, and the clear plastic allows you to monitor both the volume and appearance of the contents.
Does the clear plastic bottle protect the contents from light?
No, the clear plastic bottle transmits light and does not protect the contents from it. For standard fabric softeners or laundry gels this is generally not an issue, but dyes and certain fragrance components may fade or change shade when exposed to light. It is therefore advisable to store the filled bottle in a cabinet or shaded location, away from direct sunlight and windowsills.
Can the plastic fabric softener bottle be reused?
Yes, the plastic fabric softener bottle can be refilled after thorough cleaning. Before each filling, wash it with warm water and a cleaning agent, rinse, disinfect and allow to dry completely, just as before first use. If the plastic is scratched, cloudy or deformed, it is better to replace the packaging with a new one.
Is the plastic bottle suitable for fabric softeners with essential oils?
The plastic bottle is used for fabric softeners with standard fragrance levels, but compatibility should be verified with a trial sample. Concentrated essential oils, fragrance compounds and solvents may degrade the plastic over time. Undiluted fragrance components should not be stored in a plastic bottle; these are kept in glass.
Can hot contents be filled into the plastic bottle?
Filling hot contents into the plastic bottle is not recommended, as the plastic may deform at high temperatures. The safe approach is to allow the product to cool to room temperature before filling. Cooling before filling also reduces condensation of water under the closure, which would unnecessarily burden the product's preservation.
