Product description
The plastic hydroxide bottle with a volume of 1 l is designed for storing sodium and potassium hydroxide — ingredients without which neither solid nor liquid soap can be made. Hydroxide quickly absorbs moisture and carbon dioxide from the air, clumps together and loses effectiveness. That is why it requires a separate, well-sealable container.
The white colour makes the bottle clearly stand out on a shelf from transparent containers holding oils, hydrolats and other common raw materials. With a corrosive substance, this reduces the risk of confusion. The bottle is suitable for anyone who buys hydroxide in larger quantities and needs to transfer a smaller working supply into a sturdy container.
What the bottle is suitable for
- Hydroxid sodný – a stock of flakes or pearls for making solid soap by cold or hot process.
- Hydroxid draselný – a raw material for liquid and soft soaps, which is even more sensitive to atmospheric moisture.
- Working supply during production – a smaller amount at hand so the large packaging does not have to be opened with every batch.
The packaging material is also suitable for contact with cosmetic products and meets the applicable regulatory requirements.
Filling and volume
Nominal volume is the volume for which the bottle is intended under normal filling conditions. The total capacity to the brim is somewhat larger and represents the physical volume up to the neck. The difference between them is a reserve for the closure and comfortable handling, which is why the bottle is filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. With loose hydroxide, the empty space below the neck also makes pouring out easier without spilling.
Hydroxide heats up rapidly when dissolved in water. The bottle is intended for storage, so the solution should be prepared in a separate heat-resistant container, not directly in the bottle.
Good to know
Before the first fill, wash the bottle and let it dry completely. With hydroxide this is more important than with other raw materials, because even residual moisture will cause the contents to clump together and stick to the walls.
After each use, close the bottle immediately and tighten the cap firmly. The shorter the time hydroxide is exposed to air, the longer it stays free-flowing and the more accurately it weighs out in the recipe.
Label the bottle clearly with the name of the contents and a corrosive hazard warning. The contents are not visible through white plastic as they would be through a clear container, so the label is the only reliable identification. Label dimensions can be found in the product specifications.
Closures with the same neck type and ready-made bottle-and-cap combinations are available in the Handymade range. With a custom combination, we recommend checking tightness with the specific contents.
The bottle can be reused for the same contents. It should be kept out of reach of children and pets, in a dry place away from food.
