Product description
The white glass medicine bottle with a roll-on applicator is used to apply liquid cosmetic products directly to the skin without using your fingers. The set consists of three parts: a 30 ml glass bottle, an insert with a metal roller ball and a black plastic cap with an 18/410 neck finish. As it is rolled over the skin, the ball turns and applies a thin, even layer of the contents, so the product is dispensed precisely and without dripping.
White glass is opaque, so it hides the contents and limits the access of light, which suits fragrance oils and essential oils and other light-sensitive ingredients. The 30 ml volume corresponds to a standard roll-on that is carried in a handbag or kept on a bedside table. All three parts of the set are declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products. The set is not approved for contact with food.
What it is suitable for
The roll-on is intended for liquid products that are applied to a specific spot or a small area. The 30 ml bottle is particularly useful for:
- Oil-based perfume – a fragrance composition or a blend of essential oils diluted in a carrier oil, applied to the wrists, neck and behind the ears.
- Aromatherapy blends – diluted essential oils for the temples, nape of the neck or pulse points, where the ball replaces application with a finger.
- Oil serum for spot treatment – light oil blends for the eye area, cuticles or small skin imperfections.
- Lip oil – liquid glosses and nourishing oils applied in a thin layer.
It is also suitable for samples and test batches, when you want to try a new blend before filling it into larger packaging.
Filling and using the roll-on
Before the first filling, wash the bottle and the roller ball insert, disinfect them with alcohol or isopropyl alcohol and leave them to dry completely. Residual water in an oil-based product reduces its stability.
Fill to the nominal volume of 30 ml, not to the brim. The nominal volume is the amount the packaging is designed for under normal filling. The brimful volume given in the parameters is the physical volume of the bottle up to the neck. The difference between the two is a reserve for the roller ball insert, which is pressed into the neck after filling and displaces some of the air above the liquid. If the bottle is filled to the brim, the contents overflow when the insert is fitted.
Fit the roller ball insert only after filling and press it in evenly so that it sits properly around the whole circumference of the neck. Then screw on the cap and turn the bottle upside down to check that the ball seals.
The 18/410 neck is narrow, so a small funnel or dropper helps with filling. Fill the product once it has cooled. Glass should not be exposed to a sudden change in temperature, and the plastic insert may be deformed by heat.
Good to know
The roll-on works with liquids of low to medium viscosity. The ball spreads oils, alcohol solutions and thin serums smoothly. Thick gels, balms or creamy emulsions pass through the ball poorly or not at all, so choose a different type of packaging for such textures.
The roller ball insert combines plastic with a steel ball. For concentrated essential oils, fragrance compositions or products with a high alcohol content, we recommend checking how the insert behaves with your specific formulation, especially the seal and the movement of the ball after several weeks.
Before selling or producing in larger quantities, leave the filled roll-on lying on its side and upside down for several days. This will reveal a leaking insert or a change in the movement of the ball before the product reaches the customer.
The set can be used repeatedly. After it is empty, pull out the insert, wash and disinfect all the parts and leave them to dry. If the ball catches after washing or the insert has lost its seal, replace it with a new one. When sorting waste, the glass bottle belongs in glass and the plastic cap with plastics.
You can find other closures with an 18/410 neck finish and ready-made bottle and closure combinations in the Handymade range. If you are creating your own combination, check the seal and dispensing with your specific formulation.
