Product description

Aluminium bottle 100 ml with 24/410 neck finish is a lightweight, shatterproof container for liquid cosmetic and technical preparations. Aluminium is completely opaque to light, providing better protection than clear or tinted glass, while weighing a fraction of a glass bottle of the same volume. It is particularly suitable for body and massage oils, oil serums, travel shampoos and shower gels, as well as technical liquids such as cleaning or maintenance preparations for the home and workshop.

The container is suitable for use with cosmetic products and meets the requirements of the European packaging regulation. The declaration of conformity is available in the product parameters.

Why choose an aluminium bottle

  • Light protection – aluminium blocks all light, making it ideal for oils and active ingredients sensitive to UV radiation that would oxidise or lose colour more rapidly in a clear container.
  • Low weight – significantly lighter than glass at the same volume, reducing shipping costs and making it easier to assemble travel or sample sets.
  • Shatterproof – the bottle withstands drops and everyday handling in the bathroom or workshop. It may dent under a heavy impact, but it will not shatter.
  • Cosmetic and technical grade – the container meets requirements for cosmetic use and is equally suitable for non-cosmetic preparations.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume is the volume the bottle is designed for under standard filling conditions and the figure stated on the label. The total volume to the brim is the physical capacity up to the neck. The difference between the two provides headspace for the closure, pump or sprayer and room for the contents to expand with temperature changes. Always fill to the nominal volume, never to the brim. Exact values for both volumes are listed in the product parameters.

What works well in this bottle

The safest choice is anhydrous preparations: vegetable and massage oils, oil serums, dry oils with esters and oil cleansers. Aluminium does not react with oils and the light protection slows their oxidation.

For water-based products (shampoos, shower gels, tonics, hydrolats) and preparations with low or high pH, it is advisable to verify the behaviour of the container with the specific formulation. Aluminium can react with acidic, alkaline or saline aqueous solutions on prolonged contact, which may manifest as a change in the appearance of the inner wall or the contents. Before filling a larger batch, a compatibility test in a single bottle over several weeks is recommended.

Aluminium conducts heat quickly. Do not fill the bottle with hot preparations — allow them to cool to room temperature first. Otherwise the material heats up, the contents expand, and a vacuum may form on cooling that causes the walls to collapse inward.

Closure and 24/410 neck finish

The bottle has the standard 24/410 neck finish, one of the most widely used in cosmetic packaging. Closures with the same neck finish and ready-made bottle-and-closure combinations are available in the Handymade range. When assembling your own combination, we recommend verifying the seal, dispensing performance and compatibility with the specific formulation — particularly for pumps and sprayers, where the length of the dip tube matters.

What to know before filling

Before the first fill, wash and sanitise the bottle with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave it to dry completely, neck down. Residual moisture inside shortens the stability of oil-based products and increases the risk of microbial contamination in water-based formulations.

The smooth cylindrical surface labels easily and the silver base has a neutral appearance that allows the label to stand out. The dimensions of the labelling area can be calculated from the diameter and height given in the parameters. Labels with an opaque face stock are recommended on a silver substrate — transparent labels lose contrast against it.

The bottle can be reused. When empty, it belongs in metal packaging collection — aluminium can be recycled repeatedly without any loss of quality.

For oils prone to oxidation (linseed, hemp, rosehip), fill the bottle as close to the nominal volume as possible to leave as little air above the surface as possible. The opaque aluminium addresses light and a small headspace limits oxidation.

Frequently asked questions

Does an aluminium bottle protect the contents from light?
Yes, an aluminium bottle is completely opaque to light, including UV radiation. Unlike brown or blue glass, which only reduces light transmission, aluminium blocks it entirely. It is therefore suitable for vegetable oils, oil serums and preparations containing active ingredients that oxidise or lose efficacy when exposed to light.
Is the 100 ml aluminium bottle suitable for water-based products such as tonics or hydrolats?
It is suitable for oil-based and anhydrous preparations without restriction; for water-based contents we recommend verifying compatibility by test. Aluminium can react with acidic, alkaline or saline aqueous solutions on prolonged contact. Fill one bottle, leave it for several weeks at ambient temperature and inspect both the contents and the inner wall.
To what volume should the 100 ml aluminium bottle be filled?
The bottle should be filled to the nominal volume of 100 ml, not to the brim. The difference between the nominal volume and the brim capacity provides headspace for the closure, pump or sprayer and for thermal expansion of the contents. If the bottle were filled to the neck, fitting the closure would cause overflow, and heating could force pressure against the seal.
Which closure fits the aluminium bottle with a 24/410 neck finish?
Any closure with a 24/410 neck finish from the Handymade range fits the bottle. The neck type is stated in the parameters of both the container and the closures, so matching them is straightforward. For pumps and sprayers, check that the dip tube reaches the bottom of the bottle, and test the seal with your specific product before dispatching to customers.
Can the aluminium bottle be reused?
Yes, the aluminium bottle is designed for repeated use. After emptying, wash it with warm soapy water, rinse thoroughly, sanitise with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave to dry neck down. Before refilling, hold it up to the light to check that the inner wall has not changed, and replace the closure if it has lost its seal.
