Aluminium jar with lid, 68 mm, 60 ml

Flat aluminium jar with a screw lid for balms, salves, solid perfumes, waxes and small candles. The 60 ml volume corresponds to a finished product that fits in a bag or sits on a bathroom shelf. The low, wide shape allows scooping the contents with a finger or spatula all the way to the bottom. Aluminium is lightweight, unbreakable and blocks light, so the contents are protected from fading.

The jar is internally coated with an epoxy layer, so the contents do not come into direct contact with the aluminium and do not react with it. The packaging is suitable for contact with cosmetic products and has a declaration of conformity under packaging regulations.

What it is suitable for

• Balms and salves – anhydrous preparations of oils, butters and waxes that are scooped from the jar and require no dispenser.
• Solid perfumes and solid deodorants – the low jar opens with one hand and the thread keeps the lid secure even when carried in a bag.
• Hair wax, beard wax and tattoo wax – the hot mass is poured directly into the jar and stores well once set.
• Scrubs and bath salts – samples and travel-size packaging.
• Candles – a small soy or paraffin candle with a tabbed wick. Once burnt down, the jar can be cleaned and reused.

Volume and filling

The nominal volume is the volume the jar is designed for under normal filling conditions. The total brim volume is the physical capacity up to the neck and is slightly larger. The difference provides headspace for the lid and for the expansion of the contents with changes in temperature. The jar is filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If overfilled, the contents will get into the thread when closing and the lid will not seat properly.

With wax products and candles, the mass is poured while hot and its volume decreases slightly once set. This should be taken into account when filling. Leave the jar to cool with the lid off to prevent condensation forming under the lid.

Good to know

The lid screws on. In addition to aluminium, the packaging includes an expanded polyethylene (EPE) insert that improves the lid's seal on the neck. The jar is best suited to anhydrous and solid preparations. For creams and emulsions with a water phase, we recommend testing the seal with the specific formulation and checking how the contents behave during extended storage and transport.

Aluminium conducts heat well. The wall of the jar heats up while a candle is burning, so place the candle on a heat-resistant surface and away from flammable materials. When filling with a hot mass, place the jar on a surface first and then pour.

The silver surface is smooth and takes labels well, both on the lid and on the side of the jar. Once empty and washed, the jar belongs in metal recycling.
