Product description
The amber glass medicine bottle with a square body and a volume of 10 ml is used for filling small doses of liquid products where protection from light matters. The dark glass reduces the amount of both daylight and artificial light reaching the contents, which you will appreciate especially with facial serums, facial oils, essential oil blends and tinctures. It is also suitable for samples and test batches that you want to hand out to customers or set aside for comparison. The pack contains 160 pcs; closures are sold separately.
A square body stands more stably than a round medicine bottle. The bottle does not roll across the workbench when handled, and in a box or on a shelf it can be stored tightly side by side without wasting space.
What it is suitable for
- Facial serum – the small volume corresponds to a dose for several weeks of use, so the contents are used up fresh.
- Facial and nail oil – vegetable oils and oils with active ingredients are sensitive to light, and amber glass slows their ageing.
- Essential oil blends – glass does not react with them and does not take on their fragrance, so a blend can be stored for longer.
- Tinctures and alcohol extracts – alcohol does not damage glass, unlike some plastics.
- Samples and test packs – a pack of 160 covers the need for samples with orders or for testing formulations.
- Technical use in the workshop – dyes, solutions of active ingredients, perfume concentrates or set-aside batches for comparison.
Nominal and total volume
The nominal volume of 10 ml is the volume the bottle is designed for in normal filling. The total volume to the brim, that is the physical volume up to the neck, is larger and you will find it in the product parameters. The difference between the two leaves room for the dropper or cap and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. For this reason the bottle is filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. When filling with a dropper, bear in mind that after it is screwed in, the glass tube displaces part of the contents upwards.
With oil-based and alcohol-based contents, always leave free space in the neck. Oils expand when stored in warmer conditions, and a full bottle may overflow when the dropper is screwed in.
Choosing a closure
The bottle has a neck with an 18 mm thread. You will find closures with the same neck type, as well as ready-made bottle + closure combinations, in the Handymade range. If you are putting together your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness and dispensing with your specific formulation, especially with thinner oils or alcohol solutions, which easily leak around a poorly tightened closure.
Good to know
The packaging is suitable for use with cosmetic products and meets the relevant legislative requirements; you will find the declaration of conformity with the product. Store empty bottles in a dry and clean environment. Before first filling, wash them, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave them to dry completely with the neck facing down. Residual water in the packaging could spoil an anhydrous oil-based product or dilute the preservative in a water-based formulation.
Glass is resistant to oils, alcohol and essential oils, but it does not tolerate sudden temperature changes. Let hot contents cool to at least lukewarm before filling, and do not put the bottles straight from the cold into hot water.
Empty bottles can be reused after washing and disinfection. Oil residues are removed by warm water with detergent, and ethanol helps remove any remaining fragrance of essential oils.
