What the jar with cap is suitable for

In cosmetic production, the jar is particularly suitable for solid and powdered contents: effervescent tablets and smaller bath bombs, bath salts, powdered clay or herbal masks, dry shampoo in powder form, tooth powder or tooth-cleaning tablets and powdered scrubs. The neck is wide enough for comfortable filling and scooping with a spoon.

In food applications, it is suitable for food supplements in tablet and capsule form, dried herbs, herbal tea blends, spices, seeds or small dried fruits.

Thick creams and balms are more difficult to scoop from a jar of this shape; for those, wider-necked pots from the Handymade range are more suitable. For oils, tonics and other liquids, choose a bottle with a closure designed for liquids.

Nominal and total volume

The jar has a nominal volume of 250 ml. This is the volume the container is designed for when filled under normal conditions. The total volume to the brim is greater, as it includes the space up to the neck. This difference provides a buffer for the cap with its insert and for free movement of the contents. Fill the jar to the nominal volume, not to the brim. With tablets and capsules, the number of units depends on their size and shape, so fill a test sample and count the pieces — do not rely on volume alone.

Preparation, filling and closing

Before first use, wash both the jar and the cap, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow to dry completely. Residual moisture is the most common cause of clumping or caking in powdered products.

Tighten the cap by hand, without force. The sealing insert seats against the neck with normal hand-tightening; over-tightening compresses it unnecessarily. The set is designed for solid and powdery contents. If you wish to use it for a liquid or semi-liquid product, check the tightness of a filled jar in a horizontal position and after shaking, using your specific formulation.

Both for food and cosmetic use, allow space for mandatory information on the label.

Good to know

PET and heat. The jar is not designed for hot filling. At higher temperatures the plastic softens and can deform, so allow the contents to cool before filling and do not wash the jar in hot water or in a dishwasher.

Essential oils and solvents. Powdered and solid products with a standard proportion of fragrance components cause no problems in the jar. However, pure essential oils, concentrated perfume compositions and aggressive solvents can damage the PET surface — do not use the jar for these.

Recycling. The jar is made of PET and the cap of PP; both parts belong in the plastic recycling stream. Simply unscrew them from each other before disposal.
