Product description

The 45 ml airless bottle with a transparent body and gold base is an airless dispensing container for creams, serums and light emulsions that need to stay protected from air from the first to the last pump. The set consists of a bottle with an airless piston system and a gold cap with a pump, so it just needs to be filled and is ready to use. It is particularly suited to formulations with sensitive active ingredients for which a standard jar or a bottle with an open neck are not the best choice.

The transparent body shows the contents and how much product remains. The gold base and cap give the packaging an appearance suitable for gift sets or a small retail series. The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics.

How the airless system works

Unlike a standard pump with a dip tube, the airless bottle has no tube inside and no air gap above the contents. The product sits on a movable piston that moves upward with each press, pushing the contents towards the outlet. No air or fingers enter the bottle during dispensing. The contents are therefore less exposed to oxidation and microbial contamination, and the container can be emptied almost completely, even when held upside down or sideways.

Key benefits

  • Protection from air – the contents are not exposed to the surrounding air after opening, which helps preserve the properties of ingredients prone to oxidation, such as vitamin C, retinol or unsaturated vegetable oils.
  • Hygienic dispensing – the product is not scooped out with fingers as from a jar, reducing the risk of introducing contaminants into the formulation with everyday use.
  • Precise and repeatable dosage – each press releases approximately the same amount, making it easier to dose concentrated serums and eye creams.
  • Full use of contents – the piston pushes the product all the way to the outlet, so no unused residue remains on the walls or at the bottom as with a tube bottle.
  • Visible contents – the transparent body shows the colour and texture of the product as well as the current level, which is an advantage both for retail and personal use.

Suitable for products such as

  • facial serums and emulsions with active ingredients that lose efficacy upon contact with air,
  • eye and face creams of light to medium consistency, where small and precise dosing is valued,
  • oil serums and gel creams with low dosage, for which 45 ml is a practical size,
  • samples and test batches for customers you want to show a product in retail-ready packaging.

Filling and working with the container

Before first filling, it is recommended to wash both the bottle and the cap, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow them to dry completely. Fill from the top with the piston in the lowest position, using a finished and cooled product. Do not pour warm product into the plastic body. SAN plastic is not intended for hot filling and warm contents could create a vacuum in the closed system as they cool.

During filling, avoid air bubbles. Thicker creams are easier to fill using a filling bag or a syringe with a wider nozzle and by gently tapping the bottle on a table so the product settles without cavities. After fitting the cap, the pump needs to be pressed several times until the system is primed and begins to release a dose. The first few empty presses are normal and are not a sign of a defect.

Fill to the nominal volume, not to the brim. The nominal volume is the quantity the container is designed for during standard filling; the total volume to the brim is the physical capacity of the entire vessel up to the neck. The difference between them is the allowance for the piston mechanism and for the movement of the contents with changes in temperature. An overfilled bottle seals poorly and on the first press may force product out past the outlet. Both values can be found in the product specifications.

One press releases approximately 0.2 ml of product, which corresponds to a single dose of serum or eye cream.

Good to know

Product consistency determines how the airless system performs. Creams, gel creams, emulsions and medium-viscosity serums dispense best. Very thin, watery products may drip at the outlet or dispense unevenly, while very firm balms may not be drawn up adequately by the pump. With a new formulation it is worth filling one unit and testing for a few days how it dispenses and whether it seals properly.

The transparent body does not protect the contents from light. Formulations with photosensitive ingredients should be stored away from direct sunlight, or an opaque container should be chosen for them. Protection from air and protection from light are two different things, and the airless system addresses only the first.

SAN material is a rigid and clear plastic. For formulations with a high proportion of essential oils, alcohol or solvents, verify compatibility in the finished formulation, as such contents can cloud or etch the plastic over time.

Refilling is possible after unscrewing the cap, but the piston chamber is harder to clean than a standard bottle. Residues of the previous product in the pump mechanism can contaminate a new fill, so for retail and long-term storage fill each batch into a new container.

A smaller label also works well on the transparent body, keeping the contents visible. The bottle body is plastic; the cap combines aluminium and plastic, so separate both parts for disposal.

Frequently asked questions

Is the 45 ml airless bottle suitable for a vitamin C serum?
Yes, an airless bottle is one of the most suitable choices for serums with ingredients sensitive to oxidation, such as vitamin C or retinol. The contents do not come into contact with air during dispensing, which slows the loss of efficacy. The transparent body does not protect against light, however, so store such a serum away from direct sunlight.
How is the airless bottle filled and why does the pump not dispense at first?
The airless bottle is filled from the top with the piston in the lowest position, and after fitting the cap the pump is pressed several times on empty. The first presses only expel air from the system and bring the product to the outlet; dispensing starts after a few presses. If the product still does not come out, the cause is usually an air cavity in the fill or a consistency that is too firm.
What is the difference between an airless bottle and a standard pump bottle?
A standard pump draws product through a dip tube and lets air into the bottle with each press; an airless bottle works with a piston that pushes the contents upward without air entering. The result is better protection of the contents from oxidation and contamination, use of almost the entire volume, and the ability to dispense in any position. A standard pump is more suitable for very thin products.
Can the 45 ml airless bottle be refilled?
Yes, the cap can be unscrewed and the airless bottle refilled after thorough washing and disinfection. The piston chamber and pump mechanism can only be cleaned to a limited extent, however, so refilling is more suitable for personal use than for retail. For retail and longer storage, we recommend a new container for each batch.
Is the 45 ml airless bottle suitable for food?
No, this set is declared only for contact with cosmetics and does not have a certification for food contact. It is suitable for serums, creams and emulsions, not for household oils, syrups or other food products. The declaration of suitability for cosmetics can be found in the product specifications.
