Product description
A glass perfume spray bottle with a capacity of 2 ml is a small set intended for perfume samples, travel doses of a favourite scent and testing your own perfume compositions. It consists of a transparent glass bottle and a plastic spray pump with a thread, so the contents are dispensed as a fine mist directly onto the skin or fabric. It is suitable wherever you need to hand out, try or carry with you just a few millilitres of perfume, eau de parfum or an alcohol-based body spray.
The transparent glass shows the colour as well as the amount of the contents, which is practical with samples: at a glance you can see how much scent is left. The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products.
What the set is suitable for
- Perfume samples – the small volume is exactly what the customer needs to try a scent before buying a larger package.
- Travel packaging – the bottle fits into a wallet or a small cosmetic pouch and the glass does not react with the alcohol base of the perfume.
- Testing your own compositions – when fine-tuning the ratio of fragrance components in alcohol, it is enough to mix a few millilitres and check how the scent develops on the skin.
- Gift packs and discovery sets – more scents in one package without unnecessary use of raw material.
How the set works
The spray pump screws onto the bottle neck with a 12/410 thread. The dip tube reaches to the bottom and, when the head is pressed, draws the contents up and disperses them into a fine mist. One press releases a very small amount, which is desirable with perfume: the scent is applied in droplets, not in a stream.
When assembling, it is advisable to check that the tube reaches the bottom of the bottle and does not bend when screwed on. If it is slightly longer, it can be shortened with a diagonal cut so that the end touches the bottom and draws up even the last drops.
Before first use, press the spray pump several times “empty” until the tube and pump fill with the contents. Only then will it dispense evenly.
Nominal and total volume
Nominal volume is the amount the bottle is intended for with normal filling. Total volume to the brim is somewhat larger, because it also includes the space in the neck. This difference is not a defect, but a reserve for the spray pump: once screwed on, the head with the tube takes up part of the space and pushes the contents upwards. The bottle is therefore filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If overfilled, the perfume overflows during screwing and soils the thread.
Good to know
Suitable contents. The set is built for perfumes and eaux de parfum on an alcohol base, that is, for thin, clear liquids. The glass does not react with ethanol or with fragrance substances. The spray pump is made of polypropylene, which normally resists the alcohol base of perfume. With oil-based perfumes or compositions with a high proportion of undiluted essential oils, we recommend first checking whether the spray pump dispenses reliably. Thick oils are difficult to spray through the fine nozzle.
Light and scent stability. Transparent glass does not protect the contents from light. Perfumes contain components sensitive to UV radiation, which can change both the colour and the scent. The bottle should therefore be kept out of direct sunlight, for example in a box or a drawer.
Preparation before filling. Before first filling, rinse both the bottle and the spray pump, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let them dry completely. With perfumes this also has a practical reason: water residues would cloud the composition.
Filling. The neck is narrow, so the contents are best filled with a small funnel or a needle-free syringe. When filling directly from a larger bottle, the perfume easily overflows.
Neither the bottle nor the spray pump has a food-contact certification. The set is intended exclusively for cosmetic use; do not use it for aromatic extracts for food or for other food purposes.
Reuse. The bottle can be rinsed with ethanol and used again. When changing the scent, flush the spray pump several times with pure spirit so that residues of the previous composition do not remain in the tube. The spray nozzle is tiny and, during longer storage with contents, it can get clogged with dried fragrance substances. Flushing with spirit usually solves this.
Labelling. The area for a label is limited on such a small bottle. For samples, a narrow strip with the name of the scent or a marking on an accompanying card works well.
Recycling. Before disposal, the glass and the plastic spray pump are separated and sorted each according to its own material.
