Product description
Glass roll-on 10 ml is a complete ready-to-fill set: clear glass bottle, steel ball and black plastic cap. It is used for applying liquid preparations directly to the skin without a dropper or fingers. As it glides over the skin, the ball rotates and evenly spreads a thin layer of the contents. It is especially suitable for oil perfumes, essential oil blends diluted in a carrier oil, facial and nail oils, or light serums for spot application.
Transparent glass reveals the colour and clarity of the contents, which you will appreciate with your own perfume compositions or coloured oil infusions. Glass does not react with oils, alcohol or essential oils, making it suitable for more concentrated blends where plastic might soften over time or absorb the scent. The complete set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products; the declaration of conformity is included with the product.
What this roll-on is suitable for
- Oil and alcohol-based perfumes – small volume and ball application are typical for perfumes applied to the wrists and neck; the contents are applied precisely and without spatter.
- Aromatherapy blends – essential oils diluted in a carrier oil (such as jojoba or fractionated coconut) for the temples, wrists or décolleté area.
- Nail and facial oils – the ball spreads a small amount of oil onto the nail bed or a small area of skin without waste.
- Light serums for spot use – liquid aqueous or oil serums with low viscosity, applied to a smaller area.
- Samples and travel packaging – the 10 ml volume is practical for testing your own formula or as a sample for customers.
The roll-on is not suitable for thick creams, high-viscosity gels or preparations with solid particles. The ball cannot dispense them evenly and the neck may become clogged.
How to fill and assemble the roll-on
The bottle is filled to the nominal volume stated in the parameters, not to the brim. The total volume to the brim is the physical volume of the glass up to the neck; the nominal volume is the amount the packaging is designed for during normal filling. The difference between them is a reserve for the ball, which sinks into the contents when pressed into the neck, and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. An overfilled bottle will overflow when the ball is pressed in.
Pour the prepared blend into a clean bottle (a small funnel or dropper helps with oils), press the ball evenly into the neck until it clicks into place, and screw on the cap. The cap protects the ball from contamination and prevents the contents from leaking during transport. Before first use, we recommend checking the seal: turn the bottle upside down and wait a moment.
The contents must be sufficiently liquid. If the ball leaves almost nothing behind when gliding over the skin, the blend is too thick – increasing the proportion of a light carrier oil or diluent will help. Test the behaviour of your specific formula in a roll-on with one bottle before filling a larger batch.
Good to know
Preparation before first filling. We recommend washing the bottle, ball and cap before first filling, sanitising with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allowing them to dry completely. Residual water in an oil-based blend may cause cloudiness and shorten the shelf life of the preparation.
Reuse. The glass can be washed and refilled; the ball can be carefully removed from the neck using a flat tool slid under its edge. Store the cap and ball in a dry, clean place so they do not collect dust before the next filling.
Light and content stability. Clear glass does not protect the contents from light. Blends containing essential oils, citrus components or unsaturated vegetable oils should therefore be stored away from direct sunlight or filled just before use. If you need to protect the contents from light long-term, opt for a roll-on made from amber or blue glass.
Filling temperature. Oil blends with butters that are melted by heating should be allowed to cool to room temperature before filling. The bottle is not intended for hot filling or for sudden temperature changes.
Labelling. The cylindrical shape of the bottle allows a narrow label or a wrap-around strip to be applied. For oil-based fills, apply the label to a dry and degreased surface.
Recycling. At the end of its life, the glass bottle is sorted as glass, the steel ball as metal and the polypropylene cap as plastic. Separate the individual parts before disposal.
When working with perfume and aromatherapy blends, follow safe dilution guidelines for essential oils used on the skin. The roll-on applies the contents directly to the skin, so it is not suitable for undiluted essential oils.
