Product description

This clear 200 ml PET bottle with a 24/410 neck finish is designed for filling liquid and gel cosmetic products where the customer should be able to see the contents. The clear plastic shows the colour of the product and how much of it is left in the bottle. The bottle is lightweight and unbreakable, which you will appreciate during transport and for products that stand in the shower or by the sink. This item is sold as a full pallet of 2688 pcs, so it is intended for manufacturers and businesses that fill larger production runs and need the whole batch to look the same.

The packaging material is suitable for use with cosmetic products. The declaration of conformity is available with the product.

What the bottle is suitable for

The 200 ml volume corresponds to the usual pack size of everyday products that are dispensed repeatedly and in larger amounts than a face serum or oil. The bottle is filled mainly with:

  • Shampoos and shower gels – surfactant products where a clear bottle shows both clear and coloured gel.
  • Body lotions and thinner emulsions – consistencies that still flow well and can be dispensed through a closure on the 24/410 neck.
  • Toners, facial waters and micellar waters – aqueous solutions where 200 ml lasts for several weeks of use.
  • Massage and body oils – with a high proportion of essential oils or fragrance composition, we recommend testing the behaviour of the material beforehand.
  • Liquid soap and hand cleansing products – easy filling, and an unbreakable bottle by the sink.

Clear PET does not block light and does not protect the contents from it. Products with light-sensitive ingredients, for example vitamin C, retinol or easily oxidising vegetable oils, are better suited to amber or blue glass or to an opaque bottle. In a clear bottle, the only protection is keeping the product out of direct sunlight.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume is the amount the bottle is designed for in normal filling. The total brimful volume stated in the parameters is the physical volume up to the top of the neck. The difference between them is a reserve for the part of the closure or pump that extends into the bottle and for the expansion of the contents with temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim.

When filling thicker emulsions, let the contents settle for a moment and only then top up. Air bubbles distort the level, and once they escape there may be less in the bottle than the first check showed.

The 24/410 neck and choosing a closure

The 24/410 thread is a widely used neck finish in cosmetics, which makes it easier to choose a dispensing closure for the whole series. The bottle is supplied on its own, without closure. You will find closures with the same neck finish, as well as ready-made bottle + closure combinations, in the Handymade range. For your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness, the dispensing and the behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation, especially for products that are shipped.

Working with a PET bottle

Before the first filling, rinse the bottles, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let them dry completely upside down. Residual water in the finished product dilutes the preservative system and reduces its stability.

Fill the bottle only once the contents have cooled to room temperature. PET is not intended for hot filling, and a higher temperature may deform the bottle. The material should not be exposed to aggressive chemicals. For products with a high proportion of alcohol, solvents or concentrated essential oils, we recommend testing how the bottle wall and its appearance behave after several weeks.

Reuse is possible when the bottle is clean and undamaged. Wash it with lukewarm water and a cleaning product, rinse, disinfect and dry it in the same way as before the first use. For products intended for sale, we recommend filling new bottles. After use, dispose of the bottle with plastic waste.

Pallet of 2688 pcs

A full pallet makes sense for manufacturers who fill thousands of pieces a year and need the same shape, plastic shade and thread across their whole production. It removes the need to reorder in smaller packs and the risk of bottles with a different neck appearing in a series. Until use, keep the bottles in their original packaging, in a dry place and protected from dust and direct sunlight, so that you do not have to clean them again before filling.

Frequently asked questions

Does the clear 200 ml PET bottle protect the contents from light?
No, clear PET lets light through and does not protect the contents from it. It is suitable for products that light does not degrade, for example shampoos, shower gels or liquid soap. Products with vitamin C, retinol or easily oxidising oils belong in amber or blue glass or in an opaque bottle, or they must be stored in the dark.
Why does a 200 ml bottle hold more than 200 ml?
The total brimful volume is larger than the nominal volume because the bottle needs a reserve for the closure and for the expansion of the contents. The nominal volume of 200 ml is the amount the bottle is designed for in normal filling. The rest of the space is taken up by the part of the pump or closure that extends into the bottle and by the air that compensates for temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled to 200 ml, not to the neck.
Can a product containing alcohol or essential oils be filled into a PET bottle?
Yes, but with this kind of content the behaviour of the material needs to be tested beforehand. Aqueous solutions and common cosmetic emulsions can be filled into a PET bottle without restrictions. A high proportion of alcohol, solvents or concentrated essential oils may affect the bottle wall over time, so we recommend filling a test piece and checking its appearance and tightness after several weeks.
How do I prepare a PET bottle before the first filling?
Rinse the bottle, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let it dry completely, neck facing down. For series production, disinfection and drying are enough, since new bottles from the original packaging are usually not contaminated. Residual water in the bottle dilutes the finished product and its preservative system, so thorough drying is more important than washing itself.
What closure fits a bottle with a 24/410 thread?
Any closure, pump or sprayer with the same 24/410 neck finish fits the bottle. This thread is common in cosmetics, so there is a wide choice of dispensing closures, and you will find closures as well as ready-made bottle + closure combinations in the Handymade range. For your own assembly, we recommend checking the tightness and whether the closure can handle the viscosity of your specific product.
Is the 200 ml PET bottle suitable for reuse?
Yes, as long as it is clean, free of cracks and free of odour from the previous contents. Wash it with lukewarm water and a cleaning product, rinse, disinfect and dry it in the same way as before the first use. Hot water is not suitable, because PET deforms at higher temperatures. Fill products intended for sale into new bottles.
