Product description
A transparent plastic jar with a white screw-on cap is a complete set ready for filling: a jar with a nominal volume of 150 ml and a cap with an insert, matched to each other without any additional purchases. The taller, narrower shape is designed primarily for dry and solid products: tablets, capsules, bath effervescent tablets, bath salts, dry scrubs, powder masks, clays or dried herbs. Through the transparent body, both the manufacturer and the customer can see what is inside and how much remains. The plastic is lightweight and will not shatter if dropped, which you will appreciate when shipping parcels and during everyday use in the bathroom.
The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics, and both the jar and the cap are simultaneously certified for direct food contact. It is therefore equally suitable for cosmetic products as well as dietary supplements, teas, spices or homemade confectionery. The declaration of conformity and certifications can be found on the product page.
How the set works
- Screw-on closure – the cap screws directly onto the thread of the jar neck. Both parts have the same thread type, the set is matched and nothing else needs to be purchased.
- Insert in the cap – inside the cap is a polyethylene foam insert that seats on the neck and helps keep the contents sealed against moisture and spillage. For dry and loose-fill contents, this is generally sufficient.
- Wide neck – the neck is wide enough for pouring a blend through a funnel as well as picking out tablets with fingers or a spoon. The jar is therefore easy to fill and empty.
- Transparent body – coloured tablets, layered salts or herbal blends are visible through the wall, so the packaging also serves as a presentation of the contents.
Suitable for products such as
- bath salts, effervescent tablets and smaller bath bombs
- dry scrubs, powder masks, clays and loose blends for mixing with water
- solid shampoos and conditioners in tablet form, lozenges
- tablets and capsules of dietary supplements
- dried herbs, teas, spices, seeds and small confectionery
- technical small items such as beads, pearls, raw material samples or screws
Nominal volume and brim-full volume
Two volumes are distinguished for packaging. The nominal volume is the volume for which the packaging is intended for regular filling, and it is by this that the jar is labelled. The total brim-full volume is the physical volume of the jar up to the neck and is slightly larger. The difference between them provides headspace for the cap with its insert and the free space above the contents, so that tablets or salt are not crushed during closing and the cap seats correctly. The jar is therefore filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. The nominal volume is stated in the product parameters.
What is good to know
- Preparation before first filling – we recommend washing both the jar and the cap, disinfecting them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allowing them to dry completely. Residual moisture would damage dry and effervescent products.
- Designed for dry contents – the set is designed for solid and loose-fill products. For aqueous or oily contents, we recommend verifying the seal of the closed cap with the specific formulation in advance, especially during transport lying on its side.
- PET and heat – do not fill the jar with hot contents and do not wash it in water near boiling point, as the material could deform. Washing with warm water is suitable.
- Essential oils and solvents – undiluted essential oils, alcohol at high concentration and aggressive chemicals may attack or cloud the plastic. Glass is more suitable for such contents. Bath salts or effervescent tablets in which the fragrance is bound in a solid carrier are fine.
- Labelling – the straight body of the jar allows a wrap-around label to be applied. A round label with the name or batch number is suitable for the cap.
- Reuse – both the jar and the cap can withstand repeated washing and can be reused as long as they are free from cracks and the insert in the cap remains in place.
- Other closures – if you want to combine the jar with a different cap, choose closures with the same neck type as stated in the parameters. Ready-made combinations can be found in the Handymade range; for your own combination, we recommend verifying the seal.
- Recycling – the jar body is made of PET and the cap from polypropylene with a polyethylene insert; after use, they are sorted as plastic.
Effervescent tablets and bath salts are sensitive to moisture. Fill them into a completely dry jar and tighten the cap immediately after filling. If the products will be stored for a longer period, add a silica gel sachet.
A transparent jar does not provide protection from light. Store light-sensitive contents, such as coloured tablets with natural dyes or herbs, in the dark or choose packaging made from a dark material.
