Product description

A clear PET bottle with a nominal volume of 100 ml and a black trigger sprayer form a ready-to-use set for thin liquids applied by spraying. Suitable for cosmetic sprays as well as household preparations.

PET is lightweight and, unlike glass, shatter-resistant, making the bottle practical for the bathroom and for travel. The clear material lets you see the colour of the contents and the remaining volume. The trigger is pressed with the whole hand, which is more comfortable during repeated spraying than a finger-pump sprayer.

What the set is suitable for

  • Hair care – detangling sprays, hair waters and mists based on water or hydrosols, applied over a larger surface area.
  • Facial and body sprays – hydrosols, tonics and refreshing mists with a water-based consistency.
  • Air and fabric fresheners – water-alcohol blends with a low proportion of fragrance components.
  • Cleaning products – thin preparations for surfaces, glass and mirrors made at home.

The sprayer requires a liquid with a consistency close to water. Thick gels, emulsions and neat oils will not atomise into a fine mist — they come out as a stream or clog the mechanism. Also unsuitable are contents with undissolved particles, such as clay, glitter or unfiltered botanical infusions.

How a trigger sprayer dispenses

Each press of the trigger releases a small dose, so the product is applied evenly and consumption is easy to gauge. After the first fill, press the trigger several times without spraying until the mechanism draws up the liquid.

The dip tube is longer than the bottle. Before first use, trim it with scissors so it reaches just to the bottom. A diagonal cut prevents the tip from suctioning against the base, allowing the bottle to empty almost completely.

Nominal and total volume

Nominal volume is the amount the bottle is designed to hold under normal filling conditions. Total volume to the brim is the physical capacity up to the neck and is slightly larger. The difference serves as a reserve for the dip tube and sprayer body, which displace some liquid once screwed in. It also accounts for the expansion of the contents with temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim.

What to know before filling

Before the first fill, wash the bottle with lukewarm water and sanitise with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol. Spray the sanitiser through the sprayer as well and allow both parts to dry completely. Any water remaining in the mechanism would unnecessarily burden the product's preservation.

PET deforms under heat. Allow the contents to cool to room temperature before filling, and do not wash the bottle with hot water or in a dishwasher.

  • Material sensitivity – PET is suitable for aqueous solutions, diluted alcohol and common cosmetic ingredients. Aggressive chemicals such as acetone and strong solvents may damage or cloud the plastic.
  • Labelling – the label is applied to the cylindrical body of the bottle. The dimensions required for its design are listed in the component parameters.
  • Contact with cosmetics – both the bottle and the sprayer are declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products. The set is not intended for food use.
  • Recycling – the bottle is made from PET and the sprayer from polypropylene; they should therefore be separated before sorting.

Additional closures with the same neck type listed in the parameters are available in the Handymade range alongside ready-made combinations. When creating your own combination, we recommend verifying the seal, dispensing performance and packaging behaviour with your specific formulation.

Frequently asked questions

What liquids can be sprayed from a plastic bottle with a trigger sprayer?
Thin liquids with a consistency close to water can be sprayed. These include hydrosols, facial and hair waters, water-alcohol fresheners and thin cleaning products. Gels, emulsions and neat vegetable oils are too thick for the mechanism — they come out as a stream or clog it. Liquids containing particles should be filtered before filling.
Does a clear plastic spray bottle protect the contents from light?
No, clear PET transmits light and does not protect the contents from it. Products sensitive to light — such as hydrosols, sprays with botanical extracts or natural colorants — should be stored in a cabinet or box away from direct sunlight. The clear wall does, however, let you see how much product remains in the bottle.
Can a plastic bottle with a trigger sprayer be reused?
Yes, both the bottle and the sprayer can be refilled after cleaning. Wash the bottle with lukewarm water and a cleaning agent. Flush the sprayer with clean water, then with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol. Both parts must be completely dry before filling. It is recommended to fill with the same type of product, as fragrance residues are difficult to remove from the mechanism.
Is a PET bottle with a sprayer suitable for blends containing essential oils and alcohol?
For diluted blends yes, for concentrated ones no. Water-alcohol sprays with a low proportion of essential oils are among the typical contents for this set. Undiluted essential oils and strong solvents may cloud or damage the plastic. With a new formulation, it is worth leaving a test sample in the bottle for several weeks and monitoring the appearance of the packaging.
Why does the trigger sprayer not spray after the bottle has been filled?
Most commonly because the mechanism has not yet drawn up the liquid. After the first fill, press the trigger several times without output. If it still does not spray, check that the dip tube is submerged and that the tip is not suctioned against the base. With thicker or unfiltered contents, the cause is often a blocked nozzle, which can be cleared by rinsing with lukewarm water.
