Product description
The 50 ml glass roll-on bottle is a complete, ready-to-fill set: a clear glass bottle, a metal roller ball in a plastic insert and a black plastic cap. The roller ball applicator applies the liquid contents directly to the skin in a thin layer, without dripping and without fingers touching the contents. The set is suitable for perfume oils, aromatherapy blends of essential oils in a carrier oil, oil roll-ons for temples or wrists, liquid deodorants and cuticle oils. The 50 ml volume is larger than is usual for roll-ons, so it is also enough for body oils or massage blends for a larger area.
Glass does not absorb odours or dyes, and the clear wall shows both the colour and the level of the contents, which you will appreciate when selling and when using the product yourself. However, it does not protect the contents from light. All three components of the set are declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products. Only the glass bottle on its own has a certificate for direct contact with food; the set as a whole is intended for cosmetics.
What it is suitable for
- Perfume and fragrance oils – the ball applies a small amount precisely to pulse points, and 50 ml is enough for long-term use or as a retail size.
- Aromatherapy roll-ons – blends of essential oils diluted in a carrier oil, for example for the temples, back of the neck or wrists.
- Liquid deodorants – water-based and alcohol-based formulations with low viscosity are spread evenly by the ball.
- Cuticle oil serum – application without touching it with your fingers reduces the risk of introducing impurities into the contents.
- Massage and body oils – the larger volume allows the roll-on to be used on the back, shoulders or legs as well.
The roller ball applicator works only with contents that flow freely. Thick creams, high-viscosity gels or balms will not pass through the ball. The steel ball has a cooling effect when applied, which is useful, for example, in roll-ons for the temples.
Filling and assembly
The bottle has both a nominal volume and a brimful volume listed in its parameters. The nominal volume is the quantity the packaging is designed for under normal filling. The brimful volume is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference between them is a reserve for the roller ball insert, which is pushed into the neck, and for expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. The bottle is therefore filled up to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If you fill it up to the neck, the contents will overflow when the insert is pressed in.
Pour the contents into the bottle, place the insert with the ball straight onto the neck and press until it snaps into place. Then screw on the cap. Before first use, wash the packaging, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let it dry completely, so that no moisture or impurities get into the contents.
When filling with a funnel, keep the wall of the neck dry and clean. An oil film on the neck makes it harder for the insert to snap in and can cause leaking around the ball.
Good to know
Glass tolerates temperature fluctuations less well than plastic. Hot contents do not belong in the bottle; let the contents cool to room temperature. With roll-ons, this applies especially to blends with dissolved solid ingredients.
The insert with the ball is made of polypropylene and steel. For blends with a high proportion of essential oils or solvents, we recommend checking the behaviour of the insert in the finished formulation, especially its tightness and the smooth rotation of the ball after several days. The ball may stick if the contents thicken or dry near the neck, which happens with contents containing a higher proportion of wax or butter.
Clear glass does not protect the contents from UV radiation. Store blends with citrus essential oils, carrier oils prone to oxidation or natural dyes away from direct light. If the finished product will be exposed to light for a long time, choose dark glass instead.
You can find closures with the same neck type listed in the parameters, as well as ready-made combinations of bottle and closure, in the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness and behaviour of the packaging with your specific contents.
The insert with the ball snaps into the neck and is usually damaged when removed. Refill the bottle only after the contents have been used up completely, and replace the insert with a new one.
The bottle can be reused. After it is empty, wash the glass with warm water and detergent, rinse, disinfect and let it dry. For recycling, separate the plastic components from the glass: the bottle goes in glass, and the cap with the insert goes in plastics.
