Product description
The blue glass roll-on bottle with a volume of 50 ml is designed for liquid cosmetic products applied to the skin with a roller ball: blends of essential oils in a carrier oil, perfume oils, roll-on deodorants or massage oils for smaller areas of the body. The set consists of a bottle made of blue glass, a metal roller ball and a black plastic cap with an 18/410 neck finish. Blue glass dims light, which helps protect light-sensitive essential and vegetable oils, and it does not react with the contents. The 50 ml volume suits products used daily or over a larger area, such as deodorants and body or massage oils.
The whole set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetic products. You will find the declaration of conformity with the product.
What the set contains and how it works
- Blue glass medicine bottle, 50 ml – straight body, 18/410 neck finish. Glass does not absorb or alter fragrance, can be washed thoroughly and can be refilled repeatedly.
- Metal roller ball – a steel ball in a PP plastic seat forms an insert that is pressed into the neck. When rolled over the skin, it applies a thin layer of the contents and has a cooling effect. Aromatherapy blends for the temples, the back of the neck or the wrists make deliberate use of this.
- Black PP cap – screws onto the thread above the insert, protects the ball from dirt and prevents the contents from leaking when carried.
What it is suitable for
A roll-on with a roller ball dispenses liquid to slightly viscous products evenly. The 50 ml bottle is most often filled with:
- aromatherapy blends of essential oils diluted in a carrier oil (jojoba, sweet almond, fractionated coconut oil),
- perfume oils and oil-based body fragrances,
- roll-on deodorants with an oil or alcohol base,
- massage and body oils for targeted application, for example on the neck or feet,
- thin tonics and refreshing solutions for the skin.
Thick gels, butters, balms and products with solid particles (scrubs, suspensions) do not belong in a roll-on bottle. The ball gets stuck in them and the contents do not reach the skin evenly.
Filling and handling the roll-on bottle
Before the first filling, wash the bottle and the insert with the roller ball, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let them dry completely. Residual water in an oil-based blend causes cloudiness and increases the risk of microbial growth.
Pour in the contents at room temperature, ideally with a funnel or syringe, so that the neck stays clean. A dirty thread seals less well. Then place the insert with the roller ball straight onto the neck and press it down with your palm as far as it will go, until it clicks into place. Tighten the cap. When using it for the first time, roll the ball over the skin several times until it is fully wetted by the contents.
Fill up to the nominal volume of 50 ml, not to the brim. The nominal volume is the amount the bottle is designed for in normal filling. The brimful capacity is the physical volume up to the neck, and the difference between the two is a reserve for the insert with the roller ball, which takes up part of the space in the neck once pressed in, and for the expansion of the contents when warm. An overfilled bottle will overflow when the insert is fitted.
The insert and the cap are made of PP plastic. For blends with a high proportion of essential oils or for alcohol-based solutions, we recommend checking how the set behaves with your specific formulation: tightness after tightening the cap, smooth movement of the ball and the condition of the insert after several weeks of use.
Good to know
The ball touches the skin with every use, and sweat or microorganisms may get into the contents. For water-based and emulsion products, preservation is therefore necessary. For purely oil-based blends, an antioxidant and protection from light help. Blue glass only dims light, so store the bottle out of direct sunlight.
Do not pour hot contents into the glass. Let products prepared with heat cool down before filling, as a sudden change in temperature can damage the glass. Always tighten the cap, especially with thin alcohol-based solutions, which seep more easily around the insert when the bottle is upside down.
The bottle has an 18/410 neck finish. You will find other closures with the same neck type, as well as ready-made bottle + closure combinations, in the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness and the behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.
After the bottle is empty, carefully pry out the insert, wash and disinfect all parts and fill the bottle again. For recycling, glass goes with glass and the cap with plastics. The insert combines plastic and a steel ball, so sort it according to local options.
