Product description
A glass bottle with a matte transparent surface and a nominal volume of 30 ml is a packaging solution for small cosmetic doses where both content protection and the impression of the packaging matter. The tall, narrow shape sits comfortably in the hand and is particularly suited for serums, facial oils and tinctures that are dispensed drop by drop or in small amounts.
Frosting the glass is not merely a visual element. The roughened surface scatters direct light, so the contents are not exposed to harsh glare, while still making it easy to see how much product remains in the bottle. Unlike brown or blue glass, however, a matte transparent surface does not block UV radiation, so storing away from direct sunlight remains important for light-sensitive ingredients.
Why a matte glass bottle suits production
- Chemically stable material – glass does not react with essential oils, vegetable oils or alcohol-based solutions, nothing leaches into the contents and it does not absorb odours from previous fills.
- Scattered light – the frosted surface softens direct glare, but does not replace the protection that brown glass provides.
- Visible fill level – the amount of remaining contents can be seen through the matte glass, which is not possible with brown or blue glass.
- Small volume for testing – 30 ml is a suitable size for trial batches and customer samples, where the product is used up before it has time to lose stability.
- Pleasant surface – matte glass does not slip in a wet hand and shows fingerprints less than polished glass.
Nominal and total volume
The nominal volume is the amount the bottle is designed to hold under standard filling. The total brim-full volume is the physical volume up to the neck and is always higher. The difference creates a headspace for the closure — room for a dropper, pump tube or spray tube — and also space for the contents to expand when the temperature changes. Both values are listed in the specifications.
Fill to the nominal volume, not to the brim. With a dropper or pump, the contents would otherwise overflow through the neck when the closure is inserted and the seal would become contaminated.
Closures
Closures with the same neck type as stated in the specifications are compatible with this bottle. Ready-made bottle and closure combinations are available in the Handymade range. With a custom combination, we recommend verifying leakproofness and dosing with the specific formulation, especially for oils with lower viscosity that seep more easily through a looser seal.
Good to know
Before the first fill, the bottle is washed with warm water and a neutral detergent, rinsed and disinfected with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol. It must be completely dry before filling; residual water could introduce a risk of microbial growth into an anhydrous product. The same procedure applies for repeated use.
Glass withstands hot filling and disinfection, but is sensitive to sudden temperature changes. Do not pour a hot fill into a cold bottle, or vice versa.
The matte surface is suitable for labelling. Label dimensions can be found in the specifications; for the tall, narrow shape, plan for a narrower label wrapped around the body of the bottle.
The packaging is suitable for use with cosmetic products; a declaration of conformity is available on the product page. Glass is fully recyclable and belongs in glass collection.
Glass cracks on impact with a hard floor. For products used in the shower, consider a plastic container instead; the matte glass bottle is intended for the bathroom shelf and dressing table.
Suitable for products such as
- Facial serums – water-based and oil-based, dispensed by dropper or pump.
- Facial and hair oils – blends of vegetable oils, oil macerations and oil serums with active ingredients.
- Tinctures and alcohol-based extracts – alcohol does not affect glass, so the contents remain clean.
- Perfume oils – the small volume matches the consumption rate of fragrance products.
- Samples and trial batches – a suitable amount to verify a formulation before a large fill.
