Product description
Green glass bottle, 18 mm, 50 ml
This green glass bottle with a nominal volume of 50 ml and an 18/410 neck finish is used for filling smaller quantities of liquid cosmetics: facial serums, oils, tinctures, toners, eaux de parfum or samples for testing a formulation. Green glass lets through less light than clear glass, so the contents are better protected from daylight and the fill level remains visible. According to the technical documentation, the packaging material is suitable for use with cosmetic products and meets the relevant legislative requirements. You will find the declaration of conformity on the product page.
What the bottle is suitable for
A volume of 50 ml corresponds to the usual size of a facial serum or face oil, a small toner, or a product that is dispensed by the drop or sprayed. The narrow neck makes precise dispensing easier and limits contact between the contents and air each time the bottle is opened.
- Serums and facial oils – with a dropper they are dispensed drop by drop, without spilling.
- Toners and hydrosols – with a fine mist sprayer for the 18 mm neck they are applied evenly.
- Tinctures and alcohol extracts – glass does not react with alcohol or essential oils and does not absorb their scent.
- Samples and test batches – a volume of 50 ml is enough to verify the stability of a formulation before larger-scale production.
Nominal volume and brimful volume
The nominal volume is the amount the bottle is intended for under normal filling. The total brimful volume is the physical volume up to the neck and can be found in the parameters. The difference between them leaves room for the closure, dropper or pump and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. Fill up to the nominal volume so that the closure seats without overflow and the contents have room to move.
When filling for use with a dropper, allow for the volume of the glass tube, which pushes part of the contents upwards once screwed in. Filling up to the nominal volume covers this difference.
Choosing a closure
Closures with the same neck type as stated in the parameters fit the bottle. Droppers, fine mist sprayers, caps and ready-made bottle + closure combinations can be found in the Handymade range. If you are making your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness and dispensing with your specific formulation.
Good to know
Before the first filling, wash the bottle, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave it to dry completely with the neck facing down. Residual moisture would get into an anhydrous product and could affect its stability.
Glass does not absorb scents and does not react with the contents, so the bottle can be reused even after an oil or a fragrance composition. When refilling, check the thread and neck for chipped edges that would impair the seal.
Glass does not tolerate sudden temperature changes well. Do not pour a hot fill into a cold bottle or the other way round. Emulsions and solutions are filled only after they have cooled to room temperature.
Green glass dampens light, but it is not a complete barrier. Store products containing light-sensitive ingredients, for example vitamin C or retinol, away from direct sunlight even in this packaging. At the end of its life, the bottle belongs in glass recycling.
