Product description
A glass diffuser jar with a silver lid, 100 ml, is a container designed for reed diffusers – fragrance blends that evaporate through rattan or fibre reeds inserted into the neck. The transparent glass shows the colour of the fill and the remaining fragrance level; the silver lid closes the jar and keeps the reeds together in the neck. It is suitable for home and gift diffusers with a solvent-based or oil-based carrier; 100 ml of fill is sufficient for a medium-duration fragrance in a room.
Why choose this jar
- Glass does not absorb fragrance – the fragrance blend does not change character inside it, and the jar can be washed out and refilled with a different composition after emptying.
- Solvent resistance – unlike many plastics, glass does not react with common diffuser carriers or with a higher proportion of fragrance oils.
- Silver lid – the narrowed neck slows evaporation from the surface, and the metallic appearance gives the diffuser a finished, retail-ready look without additional decoration.
- Visible contents – both the customer and the producer can see the colour of the fill and know when it is time for a refill.
Practical use
The jar is intended for diffuser fills: a blend of carrier (a solvent designed for diffusers or a light oil base) and a fragrance composition, or essential oils. Fill to the nominal volume, not to the neck. The headspace above the fill level is a reserve for the lid, the inserted reeds, and for expansion of the contents with temperature changes. The total volume to the rim is therefore greater than the nominal volume.
The reeds are inserted through the opening in the lid. Choose their number and diameter so they fit snugly in the neck without blocking it completely – otherwise the fragrance evaporates more slowly. When filling, use a narrow-neck funnel or a measuring cup with a pour spout to keep the carrier from getting onto the outside of the glass.
Prepare the fill and leave it to rest in a separate container, then pour it into the diffuser. Mixing directly in the jar makes it harder to dissolve the fragrance composition evenly, and smears remain on the walls.
What the jar is not intended for
The jar is designed for evaporation of a fragrance blend, not for cosmetics or food. No information on suitability for food contact or cosmetic use is available, so we do not recommend it for these purposes. It is also not suitable for open-flame diffusers or electric evaporators; it is a passive reed diffuser.
Good to know
- Preparation before first fill – wash the jar, rinse it with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol and allow it to dry completely. Residual water would cause cloudiness in an oil-based carrier.
- Glass and heat – do not place the jar on a radiator or in direct sunlight. Heat accelerates evaporation, and uneven heating may cause the glass to crack.
- Keep the lid dry – if the carrier runs down the outside of the neck, wipe it off immediately. Some solvents can gradually damage the surface finish of the metal lid.
- Labelling – the flat section of the body is suitable for a label.
- Reuse – after emptying, wash the jar with warm soapy water, remove fragrance residues with ethanol and allow to dry. Glass does not retain the scent of a previous fill, so it can be refilled with a different fragrance. Use new reeds each time you refill; old ones are saturated with the previous scent.
Fragrance blends for diffusers are often flammable and must not come into contact with lacquered or plastic furniture surfaces. Place the jar on a protective surface and keep it out of reach of children and animals.
