Product description
A 1 ml blue glass roll-on is a miniature bottle with a ball applicator that applies the contents directly to the skin in a thin layer, without dripping and without finger contact with the contents. Thanks to its 1 ml volume, it is suited primarily for samples, fragrance testers, and small doses of concentrated blends that are carried on the go or included with orders.
Blue glass reduces light penetration to the contents. This is an advantage with essential oil blends, fragrance compositions, and light-sensitive botanical oils. Glass also does not absorb scent and does not react with oil or alcohol-based components, making it suitable for concentrated fragrance blends.
What the 1 ml roll-on is suited for
- Oil perfume samples – the ball applies a small amount to the wrist or neck, so even 1 ml is enough for multiple fragrance trials.
- Essential oil blends in a carrier oil – aromatherapy roll-ons for temples or wrists in a pocket format for travel.
- Customer testers – the small volume allows offering more fragrances for sampling with low product consumption.
- Oil serums for small areas – care for cuticles, lips, or the eye area, applied precisely at a point.
The ball applicator works best with thin to medium-viscosity oil contents. Thick gels, creams, and balms will not transfer through the ball. With very thin water or alcohol-based contents, more product may be applied than desired.
Before filling a larger batch, we recommend testing one unit with your specific blend – to verify that the ball rotates smoothly, applies an adequate amount, and that the bottle seals even when lying on its side.
Nominal and total volume
Nominal volume is the quantity the container is intended for under standard filling. Total brim volume is the physical volume of the bottle up to the neck and is somewhat larger. The difference serves as a buffer: part of the neck space is taken up by the ball insert, and the contents expand slightly at higher temperatures. The bottle is therefore filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. Overfilling causes the contents to be pushed out when the ball insert is seated.
What to know when filling and using
- Preparation before first filling – wash the bottle, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, and allow it to dry completely. Water residue in an oil blend can cause cloudiness.
- Filling – for such a small volume, a dropper or syringe is helpful. The ball insert is seated after filling, by pressing it into the neck.
- Reuse – the glass bottle can be refilled after thorough washing and disinfection. The ball insert must be cleared of residue from the previous blend, especially when changing fragrance.
- Labelling – the label area is small, so it is worth planning for a narrow label or marking on the cap or outer packaging.
- Recycling – the glass body of the bottle belongs in glass recycling once the ball insert and cap have been removed.
Blue glass limits light exposure but does not replace a correct formulation. Oils prone to oxidation should be supplemented with an antioxidant, and finished roll-ons should not be exposed to direct sunlight or heat.
