Product description

The glossy black 10 ml pharmaceutical bottle is a small glass bottle for preparations that are dispensed by the drop or in small amounts: face and oil serums, essential oil blends, perfume concentrates, tinctures or samples for testing a recipe. Black glass limits the light reaching the contents, so it is especially suitable for raw materials and finished products that lose colour or effectiveness in light.

It is supplied on a tray of 192 pcs, and the unit of measure is the pack. The pharmaceutical bottles are arranged in a single layer on the tray, so when filling in batches they can be filled directly in it without being moved.

What it is suitable for

  • Serums and active concentrates – vitamin C, retinol, plant extracts and other light-sensitive substances keep better in dark packaging.
  • Oil blends and essential oils – glass does not absorb fragrance or colour, and after washing the bottle can be used for a different blend.
  • Perfume compositions and alcohol solutions – glass resists ethanol, and a dropper or cap fits the 18/410 neck finish.
  • Samples and travel sizes – a small amount for testing a recipe before larger production.

The packaging is approved for direct food contact, so it can also be used for small amounts of homemade oils, extracts or syrups for tasting. Suitability for cosmetic products is confirmed by the technical documentation and the declaration of conformity, which you will find with the product.

Volume and filling

Two volumes are distinguished for packaging. The nominal volume is the amount the pharmaceutical bottle is intended for under normal filling, here 10 ml. The brimful capacity is the physical volume up to the neck, and you will find it in the specifications. The difference between them is a reserve for the dropper or the closure insert and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled only to the nominal volume. If the pharmaceutical bottle is filled to the brim, the contents overflow when the dropper is inserted and the closure seal is left contaminated.

With oils and alcohol solutions, leave a reserve even when filling in the cold. The contents expand at room temperature and press on the closure seal if the packaging is full.

Black glass does not show the level of the contents. In production, it works well to fill a measured amount using a dosing device rather than by eye.

Closure and neck

The pharmaceutical bottle has an 18/410 neck finish. Closures with the same neck type, that is droppers, caps with a liner or fine mist sprayers, as well as ready-made combinations of bottle and closure, can be found in the Handymade range. For your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness and dispensing with your specific formulation, especially with thicker oils or solutions with a higher alcohol content. It is a good idea to leave the filled pharmaceutical bottle with its closure standing for several days and then check the tightness and the condition of the seal.

Preparation and reuse

Before first filling, wash the pharmaceutical bottles in warm water with washing-up liquid, rinse them, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave them to dry thoroughly with the neck facing down.

Glass can be reused. After emptying, the packaging is washed and disinfected in the same way as before first filling. Only the dropper or the closure seal needs replacing if it is contaminated or worn.

Glass does not tolerate sudden temperature changes well. Do not fill a cold pharmaceutical bottle with a hot oil phase, and do not put it straight from the fridge into hot water, as it may crack.

After use, the packaging belongs in the separate glass collection. Before disposal, the closure is removed and sorted separately according to its material.

Frequently asked questions

Does the black 10 ml pharmaceutical bottle protect the contents from light?
Yes, black glass limits the light reaching the contents, so the pharmaceutical bottle is suitable for serums with vitamin C or retinol and for essential oil blends. Protection by the packaging does not replace correct storage in a cool place away from direct sunlight, nor an antioxidant in the formulation. The disadvantage of dark glass is that the level of the contents cannot be seen, so a measured amount should be filled.
How much actually fits in a 10 ml pharmaceutical bottle?
The pharmaceutical bottle is intended to be filled with 10 ml. The brimful capacity is larger and you will find it in the specifications. The difference between the two values is a reserve for the dropper, the closure insert and the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. If you fill to the nominal volume, the contents do not overflow when the dropper is inserted, and the closure stays clean and tight.
Which closure fits the black pharmaceutical bottle with an 18/410 neck finish?
Any closure with an 18/410 neck fits the pharmaceutical bottle, that is a dropper, a cap with a liner or a fine mist sprayer with this thread. Ready-made combinations of packaging and closure, as well as closures sold separately, can be found in the Handymade range. For your own combination, check the tightness with your specific contents, as a thick oil is dispensed from a dropper differently than an alcohol solution.
Can the black 10 ml glass pharmaceutical bottle be reused?
Yes, the glass can be washed, disinfected with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol and filled again. It does not absorb the fragrance or colour of the previous contents, so after thorough washing it is also suitable for a different recipe. The dropper or the closure seal wears out sooner than the glass, so check or replace it when reusing.
What does the “tray of 192 pcs” pack mean?
The pharmaceutical bottles are sold as a whole tray of 192 pcs, and the unit of measure is the pack. The bottles are arranged in a single layer on the tray, so they can be filled directly in it without being taken out. This pack is suitable for a workshop or small-scale production where many pieces are filled at once and individual pharmaceutical bottles would be damaged if stored loose.
