Plastic bottle, medicine bottle, brown, 30 ml

A brown PET medicine-vial-shaped bottle with a capacity of 30 ml is a lightweight, shatterproof container for small quantities of liquid and fluid preparations. The brown colouring reduces light transmission and helps protect light-sensitive contents such as vegetable oils, serums, tinctures or herbal extracts. Its low weight and resistance to breakage make it suitable for samples, travel sizes and shipments where glass would unnecessarily add weight and risk of damage in transit.

The packaging is suitable for direct food contact as well as for use with cosmetic products. In addition to cosmetics, it can therefore also be used for household oils, syrups, vinegars or herbal extracts in small quantities.

What the bottle is suitable for

• Oils and oil serums – thin oil blends dispense well from the narrow neck of the vial.
• Tinctures and alcohol-based extracts – the small volume is practical for concentrated preparations used drop by drop.
• Tonics, hydrosols and facial waters – aqueous preparations in travel or sample sizes, with a cap or spray depending on the intended use.
• Samples and test batches – the uniform shape and low weight make it easy to pack larger quantities when sending to customers or when testing formulations.

Nominal and total volume

The bottle is designed to be filled to the nominal volume, meaning the quantity for which the packaging is intended under normal use. The total volume up to the rim of the neck is always slightly larger. This difference provides a margin for the cap, dropper or spray pump, which when fitted take up part of the space in the neck, as well as room for the contents to expand with changes in temperature. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. The nominal volume is stated in the product parameters.

Choosing a closure

The bottle has a threaded neck; the thread type is stated in the product parameters. Closures with the same thread type and ready-made bottle + closure combinations are available in the Handymade range. When assembling your own combination, we recommend verifying seal integrity and dispensing method with the specific formulation, especially for thin oils and alcohol-based preparations, which can easily penetrate a loose-fitting joint.

Good to know

• Preparation before first filling – the bottles are not sterile. Before filling with cosmetics, we recommend rinsing them, sanitising with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, and allowing them to dry completely so that no moisture remains inside.
• Cold filling – PET is not designed for hot filling. Allow oil phases, extracts and syrups to cool before filling, otherwise the container may deform.
• Essential oils and solvents – with undiluted essential oils, strong solvents and aggressive chemicals, verify compatibility, as the material may soften or become cloudy. For neat essential oils, glass is the safer choice.
• Reuse – the bottle can be reused if washed thoroughly with warm (not hot) water and a mild detergent and then sanitised. For products intended for sale, we always recommend a new container.
• Labelling – the smooth cylindrical wall of the vial labels well; label dimensions are provided in the product parameters.
