Product description
A brown plastic bottle with a volume of 100 ml is designed for cosmetics and food products that require protection from light. The brown tint reduces light exposure to the contents, which is appreciated for oils, serums and tinctures that lose efficacy or change colour and scent when exposed to light. The bottle is made of PET, making it lightweight and shatterproof, so it is suitable for travel, a cosmetic bag or shipping to customers.
The bottle shape with a narrow neck and straight walls is practical for facial and hair oils, serums, tonics, tinctures, herbal extracts, massage oils or smaller quantities of liquid soaps and shampoos. The same packaging works equally well in the kitchen. It is approved for direct contact with food, making it suitable for homemade oils, syrups or extracts.
What the bottle is useful for
- Light protection – brown plastic transmits less light than clear, helping to protect oils, serums with sensitive active ingredients and tinctures from unwanted changes.
- Low weight and durability – PET will not shatter if dropped and does not add unnecessary weight to shipments.
- Narrow neck – limits air contact with the contents when opened and makes dispensing with a dropper, pump or spray easier.
- Suitable for cosmetics and food – the packaging material meets the requirements for contact with both cosmetic products and food; the declaration of conformity is available in the product parameters.
- Easy labelling – straight, unembossed walls allow labels to be applied without creases; label dimensions are available in the product parameters.
Nominal and total volume
Nominal volume is the quantity the bottle is designed for under standard filling conditions. The total brim-full volume is slightly larger, because headspace must be left above the fill level for the cap, dropper or pump and for expansion of the contents with temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the neck.
Choosing a closure
The bottle has a threaded neck; the thread type is stated in the product parameters. Closures with the same neck type — caps, droppers, pumps and sprayers — as well as ready-made bottle and closure combinations are available in the Handymade range. For custom combinations, we recommend verifying tightness, comfortable dispensing and the behaviour of the packaging with the specific formulation beforehand, especially for thicker oils or alcohol-based solutions.
What to know when filling
Before first use, wash and sanitise the bottle with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow it to dry thoroughly. For cosmetics with an aqueous phase, a clean and dry container is just as important as correct preservation, as residual moisture and microorganisms inside the packaging can shorten the product's shelf life.
PET handles aqueous solutions, hydrolats, tonics, vegetable oils and standard emulsions well. For concentrated essential oils, certain solvents and high-alcohol mixtures, we recommend verifying compatibility on a single bottle before filling a larger batch, as aggressive chemicals can damage the plastic.
The bottle is not intended for hot filling. Allow oils, macerates and emulsions to cool to room temperature before filling; otherwise the plastic may deform and the closure will no longer seal properly.
After thorough washing and disinfection, the bottle can be reused. Store it in a dry and clean environment, away from heat and direct sunlight.
