Product description
A plastic bottle with DUO pouring spout, volume 3 l, is a storage and dispensing container for larger quantities of liquid raw materials and finished products. It is suited wherever liquid is poured frequently – for liquid soaps, shampoos and shower gels, hydrolats, facial toners or distilled water, or for base oils decanted into smaller retail packagings. The DUO pouring spout allows controlled pouring, without splashing and without having to open the entire neck with each use.
The transparent wall shows how much content remains and makes it easy to check the colour or any sediment. The plastic is lightweight and unbreakable, so the bottle handles comfortably even when full – something you will appreciate with three litres both on the workbench and in storage.
What the bottle is suitable for
- Storage bottle in production – intermediates and finished products awaiting filling into smaller containers.
- Dispensing liquid raw materials – hydrolats, glycerin, liquid surfactants and other raw materials measured out in portions.
- Finished products in bulk packaging – liquid soap, shampoo or shower gel in an economy size for refilling dispensers.
- Workshop and household – home-made cleaning products and rinsing solutions for equipment.
How to work with the DUO pouring spout
The pouring spout replaces the standard cap when dispensing. The contents are poured through the spout in a steady stream that can be directed precisely into a funnel, measuring cup or the narrow neck of a smaller bottle. With three litres, this makes a significant difference compared to pouring from an open neck, where the liquid intermittently glugs when tilted and easily spills.
The pouring spout is intended primarily for dispensing. If the full bottle is to be stored or transported for a longer period, it is recommended to seal the neck with a sealing cap. Closures with the same neck type and ready-made bottle-and-closure combinations are available in the Handymade range; with a custom combination, we recommend verifying the seal and the behaviour of the container with the specific formulation.
Nominal and total volume
The nominal volume of 3 l is the quantity for which the bottle is designed at normal filling. The total volume up to the rim is larger – this is the physical volume right up to the neck. The difference between them provides a reserve for the pouring spout or cap and for expansion of the contents with temperature changes. The bottle should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the rim; otherwise, when the pouring spout is fitted, the contents will overflow and the flow will be harder to control when dispensing.
When dispensing more viscous products, such as shower gel or liquid soap, pour slowly and set the bottle upright between doses to allow the spout to drain. Thick contents will not build up in the pouring spout and dispensing remains clean.
Good to know
- Preparation before first filling – wash the bottle and the pouring spout, disinfect with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave to dry completely. Residual water would dilute anhydrous products and increases microbiological risk in water-based products.
- Temperature of contents – hot liquids, such as a freshly brewed infusion or melted oil phase, should only be poured in once cooled. Plastic is sensitive to higher temperatures and the bottle may deform.
- Transparency and light – the clear wall does not protect the contents from light. Raw materials sensitive to light (unsaturated oils, certain active ingredients, products with essential oils) should be stored in the dark or transferred to dark bottles.
- Labelling – the smooth wall is suitable for a self-adhesive label.
- Food contact – information on suitability for direct food contact is not available. For food use, we recommend choosing a container for which this suitability is explicitly declared.
Pure essential oils, concentrated fragrance compositions and solvents may soften plastics, cause cloudiness or release odour from them. Before filling with such contents, we recommend testing the material's behaviour on a small sample and reserving the bottle for a single product type.
