Product description
Plastic jar, matte black, 1.5 ml – complete with lid
When only a few grams of product need to be packaged, a large container is unnecessary. This polypropylene (PP) jar with a nominal volume of 1.5 ml is supplied as a complete set with a screw lid in the same matte black finish and is intended for samples, testers and small doses of creams, balms, solid perfumes, pigments or concentrated active ingredients. The opaque black wall conceals the contents and reduces light exposure.
The jar and lid are declared as suitable for contact with cosmetic products. The set is not intended for food packaging.
What the set contains and how it works
- Jar – a low container with a wide opening that is easy to fill with a spatula, syringe or by direct pouring and equally easy to scoop from with a finger or spatula.
- Screw lid – a lid with the same thread type as the jar; inside it has a foam polyethylene sealing insert that seats on the neck and improves the seal of the closed set.
- Opaque design – the black wall does not expose the contents to light, which is an advantage for products with essential oils, plant extracts or colour pigments that change shade or scent in light.
- Lightweight material – unlike glass, polypropylene does not shatter when dropped, making the set suitable for sending samples to customers in an envelope.
Nominal and total volume
For each jar we distinguish two volumes. The nominal volume is the volume for which the container is designed at normal filling, and is stated in the product name. The total brim volume is the physical volume up to the neck and is larger. The difference provides a reserve for the lid with its sealing insert and for the contents, which expand slightly when the temperature changes or may be pushed out when screwing. The jar should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. The exact values of both volumes can be found in the product parameters.
Suitable for products such as
- Cream and emulsion samples – the nominal volume corresponds to several applications, enough to test texture and scent.
- Balms and solid preparations – lip balms, solid perfumes, ointments, wax balms; the wide opening makes scooping easy even after solidification.
- Colour cosmetics – eye shadows, pigments, blushers in cream and powder form; the dark container does not reveal the colour of the contents.
- Small doses of active ingredients – concentrates that are added to a larger package drop by drop or by the spoonful.
For liquid contents, bear in mind that the contents will easily spill from the wide opening without a dropper when opened. The set is designed for creamy, paste-like, waxy and powdery products; for thin oils and tonics, a bottle with a dropper or spray is more suitable.
Good to know
Preparation before first use. We recommend washing the jar and lid before use, disinfecting with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leaving to dry completely so that no moisture remains in the container.
Repeated use. Polypropylene withstands washing with warm water and detergent as well as disinfection with alcohol, so the set can be reused. Check the sealing insert in the lid to ensure it is not damaged or saturated.
Heat during filling. Allow hot balms and waxes to cool slightly before pouring. Plastic is not designed for high temperatures and may deform if excessively hot material is poured in.
Essential oils and solvents. PP tolerates most cosmetic ingredients well, but with a high proportion of essential oils, citrus oils or solvents we recommend checking in advance whether the contents affect the sealing insert and jar material.
Labelling. The circumference of the jar is small, so the label is usually placed on the lid.
Closures. The set includes a lid with the same thread type as the jar. Additional closures with this thread type and ready-made combinations can be found in the Handymade range; for a custom combination we recommend verifying the seal and container behaviour with the specific formulation.
The set is not approved for contact with food. Use it for cosmetic products, not for packaging spices, syrups or other food items.
