Product description

The plastic dispenser in glossy black-gold with a smoke-tinted top is a screw-top pump in 18/415 that turns a small bottle into a practical dispensing package. It is particularly suited for serums, light oils, facial fluids and lotions — products where the customer needs a precisely measured small amount without touching the contents with their fingers. The black body with a gold aluminium collar and the smoke-tinted cap complement both dark and clear glass.

Why choose a pump dispenser

  • Hygienic dispensing – the contents leave the bottle only through the pump. The packaging never needs to be opened or scooped with a finger, which slows the introduction of contaminants and micro-organisms into the product.
  • Small, repeatable dose – each press releases the same small amount (exact value is listed in the specifications). The pump is therefore ideal for concentrated serums and active oils that are applied drop by drop.
  • Protective cap – the smoke-tinted transparent top shields the actuator from dust and accidental pressing inside a cosmetic bag, while still making it easy to see that the actuator is clean.
  • Mixed materials – the body and mechanism are made of polypropylene (PP), and the gold collar is aluminium. Polypropylene is lightweight, flexible and handles common cosmetic ingredients well, including oils.

Which products is it suitable for

The pump with its small dose is designed for liquid to medium-viscosity products. It works best with water-based and oil-based serums, dry oils, facial fluids, light milk-type emulsions and liquid active concentrates. It is also suitable for liquid foundations and oily elixirs for nails or hair ends.

The pump with this small dose is not suitable for thick creams, butters or high-viscosity gels. Dense contents are drawn up with difficulty, the mechanism jams and the dose becomes irregular. For such products, jars or pumps with a larger dose are a better choice.

Use with a bottle

The pump fits all bottles with an 18/415 neck, available in the Handymade range along with ready-made bottle-and-closure combinations. When assembling your own combination, we recommend verifying the seal, the dosing behaviour and how the pump performs with your specific formulation.

The dip tube is sized for standard bottles with an 18/415 neck. If it is too long for the chosen bottle, it can be trimmed with a sharp knife or scissors so that it ends just above the bottom. A diagonal cut works best, drawing up the contents even from the last few millilitres.

Fill the bottle only to the nominal volume, not to the neck. When the pump with its dip tube is screwed in, it displaces some of the space, and excess contents would leak through the thread. The nominal volume is the amount the bottle is intended to hold under normal filling. The total volume up to the rim is a reserve for the closure or pump and for expansion of the contents with changes in temperature.

Good to know

Before first use, flush the pump: pump through it several times with ethanol or isopropyl alcohol (IPA), then with clean boiled water, and allow to dry completely. This removes any residues from manufacturing and primes the mechanism for cosmetic contents.

A new pump requires several presses to prime before the dip tube fills and the first full dose is delivered. This is normal behaviour, not a fault. With very thin, water-like products such as tonics, the dose may continue to drip briefly after pressing. A spray head is more suitable for such products.

For products with a high proportion of essential oils, alcohol or solvents, a compatibility test is recommended. Leave the filled package for several weeks at room temperature and check whether the pump continues to operate smoothly and whether the plastic changes colour. Polypropylene is relatively resistant to these ingredients, but performance always depends on the specific formulation.

The pump is intended for repeated use. When changing the contents, disassemble it into the cap, actuator and body with dip tube, then wash and disinfect everything in the same way as before the first fill.

During transport of the finished product, always fit the cap and carry the package upright. For shipments, we recommend verifying the seal between the pump and the bottle.

The packaging is intended for both cosmetic and technical use. At end of life, the pump belongs with plastic packaging waste. The gold collar is aluminium — please separate it for sorting where possible.

Frequently asked questions

Which bottle does the 18/415 plastic pump fit?
The plastic pump fits any bottle with an 18/415 neck, regardless of the material or colour of the bottle. The number 18 indicates the thread diameter in millimetres; 415 denotes the thread type and profile. Bottles with this neck and ready-made sets with the pump are available in the Handymade range. When assembling your own combination, we recommend verifying the seal and the dip tube length.
Is the plastic pump suitable for an oil serum?
Yes, the plastic pump is suitable for oil-based serums and light oils. The small dose per press corresponds to the typical amount applied to the face, and the polypropylene body handles oils well. For oils with a high proportion of essential oils, a multi-week test is recommended to confirm that the mechanism continues to operate smoothly.
Can the plastic pump be used for a thick cream?
No, this pump is not suitable for thick creams and butters. It is designed for a small dose of liquid to medium-viscosity products. Dense textures are drawn up with difficulty and the dose becomes irregular. For creams, a jar or a pump with a larger dose and a wider dip tube is recommended.
How do I shorten the pump dip tube to fit the bottle?
Trim the dip tube with a sharp knife or scissors so that, with the pump screwed in, it ends just above the bottom of the bottle. A diagonal cut helps draw up the contents from the last layer at the bottom. Measure the length before cutting by holding the pump against the bottle. A trimmed tube cannot be lengthened again.
Why doesn't a new pump dispense on the first press?
A new pump first draws air from the dip tube and delivers a full dose only after several presses. This is normal behaviour, not a defect. If no dose is delivered after approximately ten presses, check that the dip tube is submerged in the contents and that the pump is firmly screwed onto the neck.
