Product description

A milky plastic jar with a black lid, 100 ml, is a ready-to-use complete packaging + closure for creams, butters and balms applied with a finger or spatula. The jar body made of polypropylene is lightweight and break-resistant; the black lid provides a clear contrast, and the inner liner beneath it limits product leakage during transport. The 100 ml volume is a standard size for body creams, butters, scrubs or thicker masks that cannot be dispensed with a pump or dropper.

What the set consists of and how it works

The set consists of three parts: the jar, the screw-on lid and the inner liner. The liner is a thin transparent disc that is placed on the jar neck under the lid after filling. It sits directly on the surface of the content, so the cream does not smear on the lid during transport and does not get into the thread. It also reduces the contact between the content and the air at the top of the packaging, which is particularly useful for butters and balms that may dry out if left with an open neck.

The lid screws onto the jar thread and holds securely when tightened. All three parts are made of the same material, which simplifies recycling and ensures consistent performance during normal use.

Suitable particularly for

  • Body and face creams – thick emulsions applied by hand or spatula that do not require a dispenser.
  • Body butters and balms – anhydrous products with a solid or semi-solid consistency, where the liner limits drying and smearing under the lid.
  • Scrubs and masks – sugar, salt or clay blends with a thicker texture that require a wide neck.
  • Cream deodorants and pomades – smaller amounts applied with a finger.

The jar is not suitable for thin water-based products, serums or tonics. These belong in a bottle with a dropper, spray or pump, where the content is dispensed more precisely and does not come into contact with the hand.

Nominal and total volume

The jar has a nominal volume of 100 ml, meaning the volume for which the packaging is intended under normal filling conditions. The total volume to the brim, stated in the specifications, is the physical capacity up to the neck. The difference between the two provides clearance for the inner liner and lid, as well as room for content expansion with temperature changes. Always fill to the nominal volume, not to the brim. For products that continue to solidify or heat up after filling, allow the content to stabilise before closing.

Butters and balms that you pour into the jar in liquid form must be allowed to solidify completely before placing the liner. If you place the liner on still-soft content, it may stick during solidification and the product will not look presentable after opening.

What to know when filling

Before first use, we recommend washing and sanitising the jar, liner and lid with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allowing them to dry completely. Residual moisture in anhydrous products could contaminate the content and lead to microbial growth.

Polypropylene is resistant to common cosmetic raw materials, water and oils. For products with a high proportion of essential oils or containing solvents, we recommend testing the packaging with the specific formulation, as some ingredients may slightly soften or discolour the plastic with prolonged contact. The milky jar wall attenuates direct light but does not fully protect the content from light. For light-sensitive ingredients, choose an opaque packaging instead.

The set is declared suitable for contact with cosmetics. It is not approved for food contact and is therefore not suitable for homemade syrups, culinary oils or herbal extracts intended for consumption.

Allow melted materials to cool slightly before pouring. Very hot material may deform the jar, and always place the liner only on fully solidified content.

The packaging is suitable for reuse. All three parts are made of polypropylene marked with the code PP 5 and should be placed in sorted plastic waste after use.

Frequently asked questions

What is the inner liner in a 100 ml plastic jar for?
The inner liner separates the content from the lid and limits leakage during transport. After filling, it is placed on the jar neck under the lid, where it sits on the surface of the cream or butter. It also reduces the contact between the content and the air, so anhydrous products dry out more slowly in the top layer. When using, simply lift it out after opening and replace it after applying the product.
Does the milky plastic jar protect the content from light?
Only partially. Milky polypropylene attenuates direct light but is not fully opaque, so some light passes through the wall. For formulations with light-sensitive ingredients, such as certain plant extracts or vitamins, a dark or opaque packaging is more suitable. For everyday creams, butters and scrubs stored away from direct sunlight, the milky jar is sufficient.
Is the plastic jar with black lid suitable for body butter?
Yes, body butter and balms are among the most suitable fills for this set. The wide neck allows easy scooping of firmer content, and the inner liner limits drying and smearing under the lid. Pour melted butter into the jar only after it has cooled slightly, and place the liner only after the content has fully solidified to prevent it from sticking.
Can I fill the 100 ml plastic jar with thin water-based products?
Not recommended. The screw-top jar is intended for thick creams, butters and scrubs applied by hand. Thin tonics, serums or lotions cannot be dispensed precisely from it, and each time it is opened the content comes into contact with fingers, which increases preservation requirements. For liquid products, use a bottle with a dropper, spray or pump.
Can the plastic jar with lid be reused?
Yes, the set can be refilled multiple times. After emptying, wash it with warm water and detergent, sanitise with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol, and allow all three parts to dry completely. Before the next filling, check that the lid thread still seals properly and that the liner is not deformed. When changing the formulation, verify that the new content does not discolour or soften the plastic.
Is the milky 100 ml plastic jar approved for food contact?
No, this set is not approved for food contact. The jar, lid and inner liner are declared suitable for contact with cosmetics, making them appropriate for creams, butters, scrubs or balms. For homemade syrups, edible oils, honey or herbal preparations intended for consumption, choose packaging with a food-grade certification.
