Product description

240 ml plastic jar with lid is a set designed for packaging creamy, paste-like and powdered products. The clear polypropylene lets you see the contents, so both the customer and the producer immediately recognize the colour and consistency of the filling. The set is suitable for contact with cosmetics and at the same time approved for direct contact with food. It is therefore suitable for body butters, sugar and salt scrubs, masks or bath salts, as well as for homemade nut butters, honey or dry mixes.

The jar with a volume of 240 ml is one of the larger formats, where the product is taken out with fingers or a spoon rather than dispensed. The low and wide shape makes it easier to fill thick masses and to remove them completely without residue at the bottom.

What makes the set practical

  • Transparent contents – the clear material shows the colour, texture and any unevenness of the filling, which is useful for scrubs with visible particles or for layered products.
  • Lightweight and unbreakable – polypropylene withstands drops and transport, so it is suitable for shipments and for products used in the bathroom or shower.
  • One solution for cosmetics and food – both components of the set have declared suitability for contact with cosmetics and for direct contact with food, so you do not have to deal with different packaging for different types of products.
  • Wide neck – filling with a spoon, spatula or a piping bag is fast and the mass can be spread across the entire diameter without bubbles.

Nominal and total volume

The nominal volume is the amount the packaging is designed for under normal filling. The total volume to the brim is the physical space up to the upper edge of the jar. The difference between them forms a reserve for the lid and for the behaviour of the contents, which expand when the temperature changes or „settle“ with whipped textures. You will find the specific values in the product parameters.

Suitable for products such as

  • Body butters and whipped butters – the larger volume and wide access match the way these products are scooped out.
  • Sugar and salt scrubs – the transparent jar shows the graininess and colour, and the durable plastic is no obstacle even when used in the shower.
  • Clay and powder masks, bath salts, effervescent mixes – dry and powdered products for which protection from moisture is more important than from light.
  • Food use – nut butters, honey, homemade dry mixes, spices, dried herbs or confectionery; the set is approved for direct contact with food as a whole.

What is good to know

Clear plastic does not protect against light. Products with vegetable oils, essential oils or sensitive active ingredients change faster in transparent packaging when exposed to light. For such formulations we recommend storage in the dark or choosing opaque packaging.

The lid is a push-on type, not threaded. For paste-like and powdered products this is a convenient opening. However, with liquid and runny contents, check the tightness during transport or when laid on its side with the specific formulation. The same lid fits all jars in this series with the same neck diameter, so it can be purchased separately.

Before the first filling, wash both the jar and the lid, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let them dry completely. Residual moisture in an anhydrous product, for example in a body butter or salt scrub, is the most common cause of early spoilage.

Filling temperature. Polypropylene withstands higher temperatures, but we recommend letting the hot mass cool down slightly before pouring. With melted butters and balms, this also reduces the risk of a grainy texture after setting.

Essential oils and solvents. Polypropylene is resistant to most cosmetic raw materials. For formulations with a high proportion of essential oils, menthol or alcohol, check the behaviour of the material in the finished product, especially if the contents are meant to stand for a longer time.

Fill up to the nominal volume, not to the brim. Otherwise, whipped butters and scrubs are squeezed onto the sealing surface when the lid is put on and the lid does not fit properly.

Label and reuse. The dimensions suitable for a label are in the product parameters. Both the jar and the lid can be reused after washing and disinfection.

Frequently asked questions

Is the 240 ml plastic jar with lid suitable for food?
Yes, the set is approved for direct contact with food as a whole. Both components, the jar and the lid, have declared suitability, so it is suitable for homemade nut butters, honey, dry mixes or spices. It is also declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics, so one container covers both types of products.
Does the clear plastic jar protect the contents from light?
No, clear polypropylene does not block light. Products with unstable oils, essential oils or sensitive active ingredients change faster in light, so we recommend storing them in the dark. For products that stand on a shelf in a bright bathroom, opaque or dark packaging is more suitable.
Can hot body butter or balm be filled into the plastic jar?
Yes, polypropylene withstands higher temperatures, but we recommend letting the hot mass cool down slightly before filling. This reduces the thermal stress on the packaging and also the risk of a grainy butter texture after setting. Put the lid on only after it has completely cooled down, otherwise moisture condenses underneath it.
Is the lid on the plastic jar tight also for liquid products?
The lid is a push-on type and for creamy, paste-like and powdered products it holds reliably. With runny liquids, the tightness during transport or when laid on its side depends on the consistency of the contents, so we recommend verifying it with the specific formulation. For liquid products, packaging with a threaded closure is more suitable.
How to prepare the plastic jar before the first filling?
Wash both the jar and the lid, disinfect them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and let them dry completely. With anhydrous products such as body butters, salt scrubs or powder masks, it is important that no moisture remains in the packaging. It could cause spoilage or clumping of the contents.
How much product fits into the 240 ml plastic jar?
It is filled up to the nominal volume stated in the parameters, not to the brim of the jar. The reserve above the nominal volume serves for seating the lid and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. With whipped butters and scrubs of lower density, the weight of the filling will be lower than with thick creams of the same volume.
