Product description
The amber 50 ml PET medicine bottle protects the contents from light and, unlike glass, does not break when dropped or during transport. It is suitable for facial and hair oils, serums, toners and herbal tinctures, that is, for products that light gradually damages. The 18 mm neck thread allows you to choose a closure according to how the contents are to be dispensed: drop by drop, as a spray or with a pump.
The pack contains 800 pcs in a carton and is intended for makers who fill larger batches or want to keep one packaging size permanently in stock. The bottle has a certificate for direct contact with food as well as for use with cosmetic products, so it can also be used for homemade oils, syrups and herbal infusions.
What it is suitable for
- Oils and oil serums – amber plastic reduces the light that speeds up yellowing and changes in the scent of oils.
- Toners and hydrosols – with a sprayer it becomes a travel bottle for skin or hair that will not crack in a bag.
- Tinctures and infusions – PET tolerates alcohol-based contents; for highly concentrated ones we recommend testing on a single bottle.
- Samples and test batches – lightweight packaging saves postage when sending samples to customers.
Nominal volume and filling
The 50 ml volume is nominal, that is, the volume the bottle is designed for in normal filling. The space up to the neck is larger. The difference provides a reserve for the dropper or pump, which take up part of the space once closed, and for the expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. The bottle should therefore only be filled up to the nominal volume. If you fill the bottle up to the neck, the contents will overflow when the closure is fitted.
Before the first filling, wash the bottles, rinse them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave them to dry completely, neck down. Residual water in the packaging dilutes the contents and causes cloudiness in an anhydrous oil.
Good to know
PET tolerates water-based, oil-based and alcohol-based contents. For undiluted essential oils, strong solvents and fragrance compositions with a high alcohol content, we recommend checking compatibility on a single bottle before you fill the whole batch. Watch for softening of the wall, cloudiness or a change in the scent of the contents.
Hot contents do not belong in PET. Let decoctions, syrups and melted oil blends cool to room temperature and only then fill the bottles, otherwise the wall of the bottle will deform.
You will find closures with the same neck type as stated in the parameters, and ready-made bottle + closure combinations, in the Handymade range. If you make your own combination, we recommend checking the tightness, the dispensing and the behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation.
After thorough washing, the bottle can be reused, ideally for the same type of contents. A stained wall or a lingering scent from the previous contents is a sign that the packaging is no longer suitable for the next batch. At the end of its life, the bottle belongs in sorted plastic waste as PET.
