Product description

Plastic sieve insert turns a 10 ml jar with a 37 mm neck into a container for loose products. It fits into the jar neck, keeps the powder inside, and releases only a small amount through the holes when tapped or shaken. Ideal for mineral makeup, loose face powder, pigment eyeshadows, loose blushes, dry shampoo in small packaging, or loose product samples for trial use. The jar with the sieve insert fits easily in a handbag, and the product can be dispensed directly onto a brush or into the palm.

Key benefits

  • Controlled dispensing – only a small amount of powder passes through the holes with each use, conserving the product and preventing spills when opened.
  • Cleaner use – powder does not reach the rim or threads of the jar, so the lid stays clean and seals properly.
  • Transparent material – you can see the colour and the remaining product without removing the sieve.
  • Lightweight and flexible – polyethylene won't break on impact and won't be damaged by pressure in a handbag.

How to use the sieve insert

Fill the jar with the loose product only up to the level that leaves room for the sieve, then press the sieve into the neck. Place the lid on top. To use, invert the jar, tap it briefly into your palm, or sweep a brush across the surface of the sieve.

The sieve is designed for a jar with the neck type specified in the product parameters. Ready-to-use combinations of jar, sieve, and lid are available in the Handymade range. If assembling your own combination, verify beforehand that the sieve sits firmly in the neck and that the lid closes properly after insertion.

Particle size determines how well the product passes through the sieve. Finely milled mineral pigments and powders dispense easily; coarser or pressed blends will not pass through the holes. Before filling a larger batch, test with a single jar first.

Good to know

The sieve is intended for dry loose products. It is not suitable for creams, balms, gels, or liquids — the contents would leak through the holes or clog them. With powders that have a higher oil or wax content and tend to clump, the holes may gradually become blocked and dispensing may slow down over time.

Before first use, wash and sanitise the sieve with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and allow it to dry completely, so it does not introduce moisture into a dry product. Polyethylene is not heat-resistant — do not expose it to hot water or sterilisation by boiling. After thorough cleaning, the sieve can be reused, and when it reaches the end of its life it should be disposed of with plastics.

The sieve is of cosmetic grade and is intended for contact with cosmetic products. It is not declared for food contact and is therefore not recommended for food use.

Leave a gap when filling the jar. If the powder is packed all the way to the top, the sieve cannot seat properly and some product will spill onto the threads.

Frequently asked questions

Which jar does the 37 mm plastic sieve fit?
The sieve is designed for a 10 ml jar with a 37 mm neck and the corresponding neck type specified in the product parameters. It may not fit other jars — it might not stay in place or may not fit at all. When assembling your own combination, always verify before filling a batch that the sieve sits firmly and the lid closes without difficulty.
Is the plastic sieve suitable for mineral makeup?
Yes, the sieve is designed precisely for fine loose products such as mineral makeup, loose face powder, or pigment eyeshadows. Finely milled minerals pass through the holes evenly and can be picked up with a brush directly from the surface of the sieve. It is not suitable for coarsely milled or pressed products.
Can the sieve be removed from the jar and reused?
Yes, the sieve can be pulled out of the neck, the jar refilled, and the sieve pressed back in. Before reuse, wash, sanitise, and allow it to dry completely. Repeated removal may cause the sieve to sit less firmly in the neck, so check that it is secure each time you reinsert it.
Why does little or no powder come through the sieve?
Most commonly, the holes are blocked by powder with a higher oil or wax content, or the product is milled too coarsely. Try removing the sieve, cleaning it, and letting it dry, or consider milling the product more finely. For sticky blends, consider packaging without a sieve.
Can I fill the jar with a cream or liquid product?
No, the sieve is intended exclusively for dry loose products. Creams, balms, and liquids would leak through the holes or clog them, making the contents impossible to dispense. For these products, use a jar with a standard lid without a sieve.
