Product description

Plastic bottle, clear, round, 24/410, 100 ml – pack of 112

Round 100 ml PET bottle for filling toners, facial waters, micellar waters, shampoos, shower gels, massage oils or cleaning solutions. The clear wall shows the colour and purity of the contents, which suits products with an attractive appearance, such as coloured toners or clear hydrosol. The plastic is light and does not break when dropped, so this bottle has proved its worth in the bathroom, on the road and when selling at markets, where glass would be a risk.

The bottle is supplied without closure in a carton of 112 pcs. The neck has a 24/410 thread, so any closure with the same neck type from our range will fit, or you can choose a ready-made bottle and closure combination. The larger pack is appreciated by small-scale producers who fill smaller batches and need the same packaging for a whole range of products. Based on the technical documentation, the packaging material is suitable for use with cosmetic products and meets the relevant legislative requirements; you will find the declaration of conformity with the product.

Suitable uses

  • Toners and facial waters – thin water-based formulations can be dispensed from a bottle with a sprayer without pouring.
  • Shampoos and shower gels – the 100 ml volume corresponds to a travel or sample size.
  • Massage and body oils – an unbreakable bottle is more practical than glass for oil, but the contents are not protected from light.
  • Cleaning and technical solutions – the bottle is also of technical grade, so it can be used for auxiliary solutions in the workshop, for example an alcohol solution for cleaning moulds.
  • Samples and testers – the smaller volume allows you to hand out trial packs without high costs.

Nominal volume and brimful volume

The nominal volume of 100 ml is the amount the bottle is designed for in normal filling. The total brimful volume, given in the parameters, is the physical volume up to the neck. The difference between them is a reserve for the closure, for the dip tube of the pump or sprayer, and for expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. You should therefore fill to the nominal volume, not to the brim. If you plan to use a pump, also allow for the volume taken up by its tube.

Choosing a closure

If you are combining a bottle and closure yourself, we recommend checking the tightness, dispensing and behaviour of the packaging with your specific formulation. Not every sprayer can handle thicker gels.

Before the first filling, rinse the bottle, disinfect it with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and leave it to dry completely upside down. Residual water in the packaging can start microbial growth, especially in water-based formulations.

Good to know

Clear PET does not protect the contents from light. Formulations with essential oils, vegetable oils prone to yellowing or unstable active ingredients are better suited to amber or blue glass, or should be stored out of direct light. For ordinary toners, shampoos and shower gels that are used up within weeks, this is usually not a problem.

PET should not be filled with hot contents. Let emulsions and gels cool to room temperature before filling, otherwise the wall of the bottle may deform and the packaging may be “pulled in” after cooling. It is also unsuitable for concentrated essential oils, acetone and other aggressive solvents that attack the plastic. For formulations with a higher proportion of essential oils or alcohol, leave the filled bottle to stand for several weeks and check that the wall does not turn cloudy or soften and that the scent of the contents does not change.

The bottle is intended for cold filling. Do not use it for contents warmer than lukewarm.

After washing and disinfection, the bottle can be reused, provided it has no scratches or cloudiness in which residues of the previous contents are difficult to remove. At the end of its life, simply rinse it and hand it in for plastic recycling.

Frequently asked questions

Is the clear 100 ml PET bottle suitable for toners and hydrosols?
Yes, water-based formulations such as toners, facial waters and hydrosols are among the most common uses of this bottle. Combined with a sprayer, the contents are dispensed conveniently and the clear wall shows the purity of the product. Water-based products must be properly preserved and the packaging disinfected before filling, because the bottle itself does not ensure microbial stability.
Does a clear plastic bottle protect the contents from light?
No, clear PET lets light through and does not protect the contents from UV radiation. For products with essential oils, vitamins or vegetable oils that turn yellow or lose their scent in light, we recommend amber or blue glass, or storage in the dark. For ordinary shampoos, shower gels or toners with a stable composition, clear packaging is sufficient.
How much actually fits into a 100 ml bottle?
The bottle is designed for filling with 100 ml of contents; the total brimful volume is larger and is given in the parameters. The reserve above the nominal volume leaves room for the closure, the tube of the pump or sprayer, and expansion of the contents when the temperature changes. Filling to the brim is not recommended, as the contents would overflow when the closure is fitted.
Can warm cream or gel be filled into a PET bottle?
No, a PET bottle is filled cold. Warm contents can soften the wall of the bottle and deform the packaging after cooling. Let emulsions and gels cool completely to room temperature first and only then fill the bottle. Dispense thick products with a syringe or a filling bag so that they do not catch on the neck.
Which closure fits a bottle with a 24/410 thread?
Any closure with the same 24/410 neck type fits, and in the Handymade range you will also find them in ready-made combinations with the bottle. The bottle is supplied without closure, and you choose the specific type according to the viscosity of the contents. Thin toners are dispensed with a sprayer, while thicker shampoos, gels and oils are dispensed with a pump, or the bottle is closed with a cap.
Is a PET bottle resistant to essential oils and alcohol?
Partially. A PET bottle withstands the usual concentrations of essential oils in finished cosmetics, typically up to a few percent, as well as formulations containing some alcohol. It is unsuitable for undiluted essential oils, acetone and strong solvents that attack the plastic. For formulations with a higher proportion of essential oils or alcohol, check compatibility by a trial filling and by observing the packaging for several weeks.
