Aluminium screw cap with an EPE sealing insert (expanded polyethylene) seals a 28 mm neck bottle simply and tightly while giving it a clean metallic look. Suitable for body and massage oils, tonics, lotions, tinctures, hydrosols in stock bottles, or larger volumes of serums and cleansers. The cap is suitable for direct contact with both cosmetics and food, so it can also be used for home-made oils, syrups or herbal extracts.

The cap fits bottles and small bottles with a 28 mm neck and the thread type stated in the parameters. With your own combination, we recommend checking the seal with the specific formulation, especially with contents of lower viscosity that tend to leak more easily when the bottle is inverted.

Practical use

The EPE insert is a common component of caps for both cosmetics and food, and is used with oil-based and water-based contents alike. With contents that have a high proportion of essential oils, alcohol or organic solvents, check whether the insert softens over time or alters the scent of the contents. Precise resistance data of the insert to individual substances is not available, so for less common formulations we recommend a short storage test.

What is good to know

• Before first filling, blow out or rinse the caps, allow them to dry thoroughly and fit them onto a clean, dry neck rim. Residues on the thread reduce the seal.
• Tightening – hand-tighten the cap just enough for the insert to press against the neck. Excessive force will not improve the seal but may damage the thread of a glass bottle or deform the cap rim.
• Repeated use – the cap can be reused if the insert is undamaged and free of odour from the previous contents. When switching to a different type of contents (for example from fragrance oil to a hydrosol), it is safer to use a new cap.
• Recycling – the aluminium body belongs in metal waste; the sealing insert is made of plastic.
