Product description

This is a complete packaging and closure set for creams, butters and balms. It consists of a glass jar made of opal glass with a capacity of 50 ml, a gold plastic screw cap and an inner liner that is placed directly on the surface of the product. All three parts have the same neck type, so there is no need to mix and match or test the seal from a different series.

Matte opal glass partially filters light, which helps protect more sensitive ingredients, such as vegetable oils, butters or vitamins, from faster degradation. At the same time, it remains slightly translucent, so the fill level and colour tone of the product are visible. The wider neck of the jar allows comfortable scooping of thick textures with a finger or spatula.

The set is intended primarily for face and body creams, rich butters, lip and hand balms, masks, body scrubs, cream deodorants and solid perfumes. The declared suitability for contact with cosmetic products applies to the entire set.

What the set consists of

  • Glass jar – opal glass with a screw neck, solid and heavier in the hand, resistant to oils, essential oils and alcohol-based ingredients.
  • Gold cap – ABS plastic screw closure with a soft EPE foam sealing disc that seats on the rim of the neck and prevents leakage and drying out of the contents.
  • Inner liner – a thin white disc made of polypropylene, placed on the surface of the cream. It protects the surface from contact with air and the cap, reduces spillage during transport and gives the product a neat appearance when opened.

Nominal and total volume

Nominal volume is the amount the jar is designed for during standard filling. Total volume to the brim is the physical volume up to the neck and is slightly larger. The difference provides headspace for the inner liner and the cap's sealing disc and for slight volume changes of the contents with temperature. The jar should therefore be filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. Otherwise the liner cannot be properly inserted and the cap will not seat correctly. The exact values of both volumes are given in the product specifications.

What is good to know

Before first use, we recommend washing and sanitising both the jar and the cap (for example with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol) and allowing them to dry completely. Residual water in the jar can create conditions for microbial growth in anhydrous butters or balms.

Glass can withstand filling with warmer materials, such as melted butter or wax-based balm. However, cold temperatures and sudden temperature differences are not beneficial. Allow the jar to warm to room temperature before filling and do not pour hot material into cold glass. Insert the liner and cap only after the contents have fully solidified, otherwise the material will stick to them.

For emulsions (creams with a water phase), it is worthwhile to insert the inner liner immediately after filling. A smaller surface area in contact with air slows drying and reduces the risk of contamination during repeated opening. However, preservation of the cream remains necessary — the liner does not replace it.

For products with a higher proportion of essential oils or solvents, we recommend checking whether the appearance of the sealing disc or the shine of the gold surface changes over time. The glass itself is resistant to these ingredients, but the plastic parts of the cap may be more sensitive. Both the jar and the cap can be reused after washing and sanitising; it is better to replace the liner with a new one.

The label is best placed on the bottom or lower part of the jar's body, or on the cap. The dimensions of both the jar and the cap are given in the specifications. For recycling, glass goes with glass and the cap and liner go with plastics; the packaging is disassembled before disposal.

The set as a whole is declared for contact with cosmetics, not with food. We therefore do not recommend it for homemade jams, cooking oils or herbal syrups. For these purposes, choose packaging with a food-grade certification.

Frequently asked questions

Does the opal glass jar protect the contents from light?
Partially yes. Matte opal glass filters passing light and reduces its effect on sensitive ingredients, such as unsaturated vegetable oils or vitamins. However, it is not a complete barrier like dark amber glass. We therefore recommend storing creams with highly sensitive active ingredients away from direct sunlight and with a shorter use-by period.
What is the inner liner in a cream jar for?
The inner liner is a plastic disc placed directly on the surface of the cream after filling. It reduces the surface area of the contents in contact with air, prevents the material from sticking to the cap's seal and reduces spillage during transport. For thick butters and balms it can be omitted; for lighter creams it improves both stability and the appearance of the product.
Is the 50 ml glass jar suitable for hot pouring of balm?
Yes, glass can withstand melted wax and butter mixtures, but the jar must not be cold. Allow it to reach room temperature before filling and pour the mixture after it has cooled to the temperature at which it still flows, not directly from the heat source. Attach the cap and liner only after the contents have fully solidified.
Is the glass jar with a gold cap suitable for food?
No. The set of jar, cap and liner is declared for contact with cosmetic products, not with food. It is suitable for creams, butters, balms, scrubs, masks and solid perfumes. For storing food, choose packaging that has a food contact certification stated in the specifications.
Can the glass jar with cap be reused?
Yes, both the glass jar and the cap can be refilled after washing and sanitising with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol. We recommend replacing the inner liner with a new one, as it is in direct contact with the contents and its cleanliness is difficult to guarantee after washing. Everything must be completely dry before the next filling.
How to fill the 50 ml glass jar so that the cap seats correctly?
Fill the jar to the nominal volume, not to the brim. The space between the surface of the contents and the neck is designed for the inner liner and the cap's sealing disc. If the jar is overfilled, the liner cannot be placed on the surface and the cap cannot be fully tightened. The seal is compromised and the product may be squeezed out through the thread during transport.
