Product description
The glass jar, milky, silver lid, 50 ml is a complete set for creams and butters: a matte glass jar, a silver screw lid and an inner liner that sits directly on the surface of the fill. It is suitable for facial and eye creams, body butters, balms, masks and thick serums, that is, anywhere the contents are scooped out with a finger or a small spatula.
Milky glass softens the light while also smoothing the appearance of the fill, so the cream underneath does not look see-through and "laboratory-like" but uniform. The glass is chemically stable, does not react with oils, butters or essential oils, and can be washed and reused. The set is declared as suitable for contact with cosmetics. It is not declared for contact with food, which is why it is intended for cosmetic preparations.
How the set works
- Jar – a low container with a wide neck, from which even a thick texture is comfortably scooped right down to the bottom.
- Lid – a silver plastic lid with a screw thread and a soft foam seal on the inside, which, when tightened, seats onto the neck of the jar and limits the drying out of the fill.
- Inner liner – a thin white polypropylene disc that is placed directly on the surface of the cream. It protects the fill during transport, prevents it from sticking to the lid and covers the surface until the first opening.
Nominal and total volume
The nominal volume of 50 ml is the volume for which the jar is intended under normal filling. The total volume up to the brim is larger: it is the physical volume up to the neck and you will find it in the parameters. The difference is a reserve for the inner liner, the lid seal and the slight expansion of the fill with a change in temperature. It is therefore filled to the nominal volume, not to the brim. Otherwise the liner will not fit and the cream will be squeezed into the thread when closing.
Pour creams and emulsions into the jar only after they have cooled to room temperature, and place the liner on the surface once the fill has set. A warm cream will condense under the liner and droplets of water on the surface reduce the stability of the product.
Good to know
Before the first filling we recommend washing the jar and the lid, disinfecting them with isopropyl alcohol or ethanol and letting them dry completely. The liner only needs to be rinsed with alcohol, there is no need to soak it.
Glass is sensitive to thermal shock. Do not pour hot mass into a cold jar and do not wash a hot jar with cold water. When working with a hot fill, temper the jar first.
The plastic parts of the lid may react over time to concentrated essential oils and solvents. For anhydrous preparations with a high proportion of essential oils we therefore recommend verifying suitability on a single piece. The inner liner is made of polypropylene, which normally withstands both oil and alcohol.
Standard labels adhere well to the matte glass. After the end of use the jar belongs in glass, while the lid and liner are set aside separately as plastic.
The set can be closed without any additional parts. All three parts have the same neck diameter, so you can buy the lid and liner separately when they get damaged or lost.
Suitable for products such as
- Facial and eye creams – thick emulsions scooped out with a small spatula; the liner protects the surface from drying out.
- Body butters and balms – anhydrous preparations for which the glass does not react with oils and does not take on the scent.
- Facial masks and scrubs – the wide neck allows comfortable scooping of even coarser textures.
- Samples and travel packs – the 50 ml volume is suitable for test batches and gift sets.
